Most strange. I don't think that even the most partisan barcode fan thinks they can win the Premier League or the Champions League; that leaves the two domestic cups to realistically go for. Are they really in a position where they can basically pass up a reasonable chance of a trophy? It's 68 years since they won a major domestic trophy, and 54 years since winning any major trophy.

Yeah, Brighton rested half of their team not long ago and battered United

Still though, this would probably be Newcastle's best chance to win a trophy and they reached the final last year, so you would think they would go for it
