Things may not be 100% in the Chelsea dressing room and their relationship with Sarri.
However, Sarri & these players inflicted our first defeat of the season in premier league
@ Stamford Bridge. Yes we beat them convincingly only very recently @ Etihad, however,
this is still a one off game. They have players that on their day can score both from open
play and set pieces. They don't need an Andros Townsend one in a season wonder strike.
Yes, if we play to our best then I am sure we will prevail. We just need to keep the tempo
up & critically convert our chances when we have them stretched. We had opportunities
@ the bridge early on when we played well but failed to convert & ended up losing match.
Excellent points and made well. This will be harder than some are expecting . Nerves get to the players and it is one-off game so mentally players approach it different. How often does a team in a poor run of league form turn up for Cup games and perform like a different team? It can and does happen. However, if Chelsea win and I was their Manager I’d do all the laughing and joking on the pitch afterwards, patting some players on the back etc but by golly when they get back in the changing room they would be ripped to shreds. Torn to pieces ‘why don’t you play like this every week? Why don’t you play for me like this every week? Why don’t you play like this for the fans like this every week? Yes they should celebrate tonight but tomorrow morning at Cobham they will be in no doubt that their careers at my club are on the line. Three players will be made an example of and whilst the squad won’t like it the results will improve and at the end of the season they will thank me. I was with a friend of mine last week who runs a large US firm and he asked “Giles, do you prefer use of the carrot or the stick?’ ‘Hal’ I said, ‘I prefer a giant stick with a carrot on the end and I will use it so hard if these mothe ‘ won’t rest until be we get to the set goals’ I spoke with him yesterday and he said he’s been think about that and said ‘Giles, that is the way I will go from now on’
