Carabao Cup Quarter-Final Games 10/11 January '22

To be fair to Newcastle, City were getting around 15,000 fewer fans under Stuart Pearce to what we’re getting now. I remember where I sat at the time, I’d have six seats to my right, five to my left and nobody in front or behind me at some of the lower profile games.

They had Mike Ashley, when things are bad things can be very bad and you can understand some fans not wanting to give a bloke like that any money.

I was one of those who packed in my season ticket, I was just one of 10,000, it wasn't 15,000. I got sick of handing my money over to waste a full day on boring shite. Sitting in a freezing cold stadium and watching a club not even try to do anything other than exist just seemed to be a pointless waste of time. I would have been happy to keep going if we were trying to be the best that we could be even if we were losing games every week, we weren’t.

I've travelled everywhere to watch Newcastle try which is totally different, even when we were in real danger of being relegated to the third division.

Newcastle under Ashley was a soulless shower of shite after the first year of his ownership. He actually had ambition when he first bought the club and we were considering expanding the ground. He should never have sacked Keegan. Imagine you being taken over and then your owners sack Pep, a club legend. That’s basically what Ashley did and the whole mood within the club changed overnight, it was toxic.
