Cardiff (FA Cup 4th Rd ) Post Match Thread

I was fuming when j first heard his comments, however his MOTD interview and now this suggest he is made of better stuff. Whatever his playing style it does take balls to backtrack in public, especially against your own team.

Has anyone asked Bennett why he attempted to trip sane with his studs?

Warnock has shown a bit more decency than anyone from Liverpool after Ederson got a face full of studs but perhaps it's simply because Liverpool don't get the flack Cardiff did. It's about time though that the FA put out a strongly worded reminder to all clubs that the lawmakers are trying to end a culture that sees crippling injury to an opponent as a worthwhile risk to take to ensure a short term advantage. You "don't have to go for it" with both feet off the ground and studs head high at full pace in a race with an advancing 'keeper who is three yards nearer the ball, and there is nothing virtuously "English" in losing sight of everything else and "trying to stop the counter" by any means at all. Hopefully Leroy will be back in 6 or 7 weeks but it certainly did look a lot worse on Sunday night. And Warnock's initial, instinctive reaction was to express an attitude which has never been generally popular - rather it has been a lunacy inflicted on our game by a bunch of xenophobic, win-at-all-costs brigade.
