Carew and RSC swap deal?

A loan deal to Espanyol sounds as though we'd get very little value for the £17m we shelled out just five months ago.

Having only played 2 matches for us due to his predisposition for injuries, I cannot see any merit at all in allowing him to move away at this time.

Eventually - hopefully - he will regain physical health and will feature more regularly in our starting eleven. He is needed now with Sturridge gone, Ade in Angola, Bellers always a likely injury casualty and Benjani not up to it.

He is needed here with us right now. If Roque is lovesick for Leslie then we might as well sell him for cash. That said, I'm sure any press reports indicating he is unhappy following the Hughes/Mancini change is either untrue or, at worst, somewhat exaggerated.

As for a swap with Carew, I agree with the consensus. Apart from Roque being injury prone, M O'N would not see the swap as an improvement to the Villa squad.

ESPANYOL hope it will be second time lucky in their bid to sign Roque Santa Cruz on loan.
The Spanish side tried unsuccessfully to prise the striker away from Manchester City just before Mark Hughes was sacked.

They will now approach Roberto Mancini about the Paraguayan, 28, who has made only two league starts since leaving Blackburn for £17.5m last summer.

Santa Cruz scored twice in Hughes' last game, the 4-3 triumph over Sunderland, but otherwise has been restricted to one Carling Cup goal.

He admitted: "My agents have received calls from other clubs asking about me."

That to me says that he is putting himself about which in turn means hes not happy...

unless this was a quote when he was at BBrn

From what I've read Carew's agent was trying to engineer a move for him, with Fenerbache & Spurs both linked with the player. It may be that MON needs to find the best like for like replacement, which would probably be RSC. If this happens it feels like two clubs trying to make the best of a situation that has arisen rather than something they are both keen on.

Got some third hand info off a friend that we might be shipping RSC out for Carew. Source claims that RSC has not warmed to Mancini following Hughes sacking and City are sounding out MON over a swap for Carew.

Are you sure he didnt actually say "Crewe" as this may be a better deal for us............getting a decent drinking town with a 'great rail network' wouldnt be such a bad deal for Rocky IMO..

:-)

This is bullshit. Carew is worth around £8 million max and has plenty of injury problems. RSC is a much better player although injured most of the time. We got ripped off on the deal we have to live with it he stays at city first rule in football never deal with sides you are directly competeing with, we sshould have learned that from the Dunne deal.

Just to make it clear SSN have spoken to RSC agent and he confirmed that city see him in long term plans not for sale and the player is settled and doesnt want to move. This is complete and utter bullshit, no truth in it what so ever.

Look just passing on info, and SSN generally know fuck all too so I wouldn't set too much store by them.

To reitterate I was told we were sounding out MON about a swap deal... To me that says it was very early stages if anything was going to happen, certainly the players agent would not have anything to do with it yet. I don't know what MON's response has been or even if he has responded yet, all I was told is that is that we were sounding him out.

Pure BS

RSC's agent-

“He will stay at Manchester City. He is happy at Manchester City, and Manchester City are happy to have him. That is the end of it.”

Cant get much clearer than that.
