Carillion going bust

Just reading some of this and it looks like the warning signs were there from 2015. If that's the case then why did the government continue to give them huge contracts?
I'm not sure about 2015 but the government has claimed each contract awarded since the profit warnings was awarded to a consortium so other parties could complete the contract if one went tits up.
Mind you, I don't believe every government claim so I'm not sure I believe that one.

oh I see, the weapons of mass destruction have all been forgotten then have they or is there a statute of limitations on your beloved labour part mistakes ?
So what's that to do with Carillion going bust? What next? Blaming Lord Haig for the loss of life at the Somme?

Get a grip. It's nothing to do with party politics. it's purely down to corporate greed and financial mismanagement on a criminal scale.

Are the bosses going to court for some form of negligence? thought not, nothing to see hear. Nowt will happen, no lessons will be learned and this will be swept under the carpet asap.

It does when you realise privatisation is driven by ideology.
Agree I’m sure the Tory back benchers and those in the 1922 Committee would do all they can to oppose anything that looks like a return to government control of critical infrastructure and services.
Off topic but it reminded me of this....

KPMG are undergoing investigation along with the directors, we'll see what happens there.

You know this stuff well. What are the chances anything will actually happen to any effect do you think?

Every time some dodgy finances on a huge scale comes to light they say "we will investigate" but generally they find nothing or it just fizzles out. That i find really annoying.

Fuck all most likely because KPMG are one of the big 5 and to call their audits into question would create utter chaos throughout the economy, they're "too big to fail" a few people there will lose their jobs and they'll get a small fine, after making the rest of us look like cunts. The directors? Probably the standard multi year ban from being on the board of any company, jail time is rare.

Understood sir, bloody hell, same old story then xD One day we will wise up, i doubt i shall be breathing when we get there though.

Simple, because most big companies offer a pension scheme in which the company puts money in for you, provided you contribute too. So if you put in 3%, they'll put in another 6% for example. Why would ANYONE turn down a free extra 6% of their salary??? You'd be bonkers to say no thanks.
No good if that 9% disappears into some execs yacht as he sails into the sunset

Absolutely not mate.
That applies to both parties which is why I blame the Thatcher Government for all the country's present woes.
Oh and Reginald Maudling's note to the incoming Labour Government in 1964.
And before that if you go back to Munich 1938........

Because they’d do that into a SIPP as well and you could leave your wife everything rather than 59% and your kids nothing after she’s gone.

Nothing wrong with ideology. It’s what drives all politics no?

No, it doesn't drive all politics, there's gangsterism.

As for nothing wrong with ideology, well there's ISIS and the Nazis. My acid test is does it put a chicken in every pot? If it does, we're getting there, if it doesn't, it's not worth jack shit.

The issue is poor management.

No it isn't, that's like saying the problem with the First World War was going over the top, when the real problem was the war should never have started in the first place.

Shocking we don’t agree.

In my job (nearly 40 years in the public sector) I have yet to see a private sector employer really deliver what they promised to the Government of the day. They chase the contract and usually win it because they are the cheapest. Nothing else seems to matter.
