Carlos Marchena

He's a pretty good defender actually, I'd say he is near enough as good as Lescott, and he can use both feet (quite well, not just he's able to move them)

So hes pretty much a good left footed centre back is'nt he?

Good one M.H, if its true.

Oh and he can play left back if we need it.

Carthorse and a dirty bastard - will get 3/4 red cards a season in prem

Or, fantastically stong centre half who wouldn't have a problem dealing with the likes of Adebayor, Drogba, Carlton Cole etc etc

Carlton Cole??? I dont think Ben Haim would have had much of a problem dealing with him!!! Ok maybe not ;-)

I remember him scoring an overhead kick at COMS, managing to hold off two defenders for what seemed like forever! Plus, before he got injured, he was on the verge of leading the line for England. Had a good first half of the season last year, and we always seem to struggle with his type of player. Agree that he's not in the same calibre as the other two though. ;)

Yes, he is a dirty bastard. 14 yellow and 3 red cards in one season. Well past his best, although he still plays for the Spanish national side so he must possess useful experience.

Refs in Spain give bookings/reds out for much less than they do in the Prem! Plus neither Onuoha or Kompany are in that mould of CB where they'll stick their head in at foot height and get a busted nose but play on (Richards is more like this but wants to play RB) so a player in this mould would suit playing with Kompany or Onuoha or even better Lescott!

Marcheda and Lescott as CB's would be nice!

Dunne gets reds for going AWOL and turning off - Marchena is cynical - some of the things I´ve seen him do (and get away with at times) are lower than a corgi´s bollox

No thanx - we can get better and younger

Talking of Richards...

Is he the most desperately injured/fit for the next game player in the world ?

How many times have you seen him carried off, apparently with a career ending injury, only to be up and at 'em again for the next match ?

Either he has fantastic powers of recovery
Or he's a big girl !!

I'm not telling him though !!

There was a comment that Hughes made at the end of last season where some players would not play though the pain barrier for the team - Micah was one of those whoe would play even when injured - it is one of the reason we really need to build strength in defense because we want to be able to play fit players.

Very good defender. Solid, old fashioned centre back. Shone in the european champs and is a dirty bastard.
