•(1) His children: It is hard for him to be away from his children. Susana (the
host) asks him that if they talk via Skype and he says yes, but it's not the
same thing as being a present father. The host comments on how his daughter
Flor (sitting with him) doesn't seem to want to let go and he says that it's
that way every time he's there. He says that he works for his children,
everything he does is for them. But wants to teach them to fight for what they
want, and doesn't want to just spoil them so they can grow up to be fighters
and believe in what they do. That there are many children that are suffering
and don't have the same lucky as his children are.

(2) January Transfer request: The host asks him why he handed in the transfer
request in January, what happened there as he is the captain and main goal
scorer? He says that when the directors/owners of the club first came to him to
talk about the ManCity project, they said that they wanted to create a team to
win championships and enter the champions league. The first year he was there,
City didn't achieve any of those things, so he approached them to talk to them
about it, as that was the argument they used to lure him to sign with City, and
they said they were doing everything in their power to make the club a
successful and big club and they gave him their word. He was not satisfied with
this, and that in that same meeting they said other things he did not agree
with and he was unsatisfied. So he thought to himself, ok, if the Club and
himself cannot come to an agreement, then he's going to go and step aside
because even as the captain and main goal scorer he cannot go against the
directors. So he decided the best thing to do was to step aside as he should
and move on. The club directors didn't believe him when he said he would just
step aside. Then he sent in the transfer request, they finally took him
seriously and it didn't go well with them. They said how are you
"Carlitos" going to do that? You're the captain and goal scorer,
please don't go. That woke them up a little, they had another meeting and then
it was all settled again when they came to an agreement. Host asks if it was a
problem with money (I think, they use a very Argentinian phrase) and he says
no. He says it had to do with the long term project of making City a top club. And
the host says but then you became champions and won the FA cup and he agrees.

(3) Italy and Spain: Hosts says that she thinks that in the
end he would like to go play in Spain or Italy, not because of him but rather
because of his family. And he says no, currently, because I would like to be
close to my family I don't think I would go to Spain or Italy. Host asks if he
would then stay in London (she means Manchester) and he says yes.

(4) Language: (This is in part 2 of the interview) Host asks how
is learning the language coming along? He says not well. And hosts asks
what happens when his friends go there. And he says, when they come, along with
my family, I try to speak, even if badly. But his family doesn't understand
anything.

(5) Manchester: He says there is nothing to do in Manchester,
there are only 2 restaurants, and it's because it's too small a city. It rains
all the time and you can't go out anywhere. Sure, when one is training, one is
concentrated on that and it doesn't matter. But when family comes to visit,
it's hard because there isn't really anywhere to show them around and it makes
you feel bad as their host. Host asks if he has a translator. He says he has a
friend who speaks English well that works for his agent. He follows him
everywhere and helps him out, and that's why, he jokes, he doesn't know any
English. He says that he sometimes thinks that he's been there 5 years and
should know more, but that he really doesn't have much interest in learning and
that it's hard (and boring) to understand the verbs and tenses. (He continues
to poke fun at himself and is quite funny, great guy!).

(6) Relationship with Wife Vanessa: Host asks if they're getting
back together. He says little by little. He also says his children almost never
go to England, except maybe on birthdays or something like that. Host asks wife
if he's romantic and she says yes. Host asks what he would do to conquer his
wife or a girl and he responds "I'd speak to her in English", poking
fun at himself. Hosts asks that if wife should be jealous as it is natural for women
to go after him as he is famous. And he says that his wife has a foundation for
being jealous, he recognizes he hasn't been at his best behaviour but that he
loves her, she is the mother of his children and he recognizes that he made
mistakes. That sometimes one is sidetracked by fame and other things and
doesn't value those who are closest to one.

(7) Retirement: Hosts mentions that he's young and that
other players have at least 10 more years of playing as he is 27. He says that
he doesn't think he'll play another 10 years. That he always said that he would
retire at 28. Host says that it's natural that he feels "old" even
though he's not and that he'll learn that (honestly, she's like in her 70's
haha). He says he's tired. Host asks if he's tired of training, he says he's
tired of fame. He says that one loses things because of fame and he almost lost
his family because of it. He says, with fame, one thinks one is a God and hurts
people who are closest to him. He says that this year he's suffered a lot
because his children are far away, and he can't stand being so far away. He
grew up in a close knit family. Host says he can't retire, he's one of the best
in the world! He says he won't retire for now.

(8) House in Manchester: Host asks if he bought or rents the
house he lives in Manchester. He responds that he lives in a house that is rented
by ManCity. Host comments that she asks because another player told her that
his club bought his house in Marbella (Spain). He says, that's different
because if you have a house in Marbella, later on you can go on vacation there
for the summer or something. But to Manchester, he isn't going to go on
vacation.

One of the best thread's I've read in recent months. An intriguing insight into how Carlos actually feels.

For me, I think he'll move in Jan to Corinthians(TV money will be available to pay us with). But for now, I've no doubt we have a committed player on the pitch.

cheers

thought this was new though until i read the 2 restaurants comments guessing this is quite a while back

JoeMercer'sWay said:
would make sense except he handed in ANOTHER transfer request in the summer despite him saying he wouldn't move to Italy or Spain.

so then what is the reason hey Carlos?
When was it reported that he handed in ANOTHER transfer request? I didn't see that one.
