CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

To me it suggests that the investigation is dead in the water. The PL have got themselves into the same mess as UEFA. They have allowed themselves to be pressurised into launchng an investigation by our commercial rivals but now have no evidence (because there is nothing to find) and nowhere to go without looking stupid.
Remember the discredited Der Spiegl claims relate to alleged financial issues going back to the 2010 accounts...years before FFP was even introduced. An independent judge has already warned the parties involved (City and the PL) that they have to essentially "put up or shut up" because it has dragged on too long. The only reason this is still on the table is because it is part of an ongoing smear campaign to damage City's reputation by a cabal of clubs led by LFC and MUFC. As Khaldoon said: "Organised and clear." The PL have allowed themselves to be "played" by our commercial rivals.
Throw enough mud and some will eventually stick eh?

can we not force the premier league issue and file legal against them? The narrative is still that we have cheated and still dragging on over a year since we were cleared?

The premier league would only be sabotaging itself if they go after City. The league would have a black mark against it. You can’t wipe smears like that away. Look at the Italian league. They hope it dwindles away to nothing, maybe try a warning or a fine to appease the red shirts.

It’s a position they should not have gotten themselves into to at all. Caught up with trying to keep the greedy American clubs content by punishing a rival for honours.

It’s exactly as printed by the club. Investigation into doctored emails that were stolen and made out to be something they are not. Otherwise Cas would have found us guilty.

we wont be taking another pinch all or nothing

Let’s just say that the premier league is now an even more of an attractive proposition to worldwide investors, because of the beautiful football we play. The influence Pep and city have had on other clubs around us and right down to grass roots is immense.
I would even go as far as to say Pep has put a big nail in the Spanish leagues coffin. That league is nothing like it was since Pep left.
So any punishment that the Premier league were to hand out to city if they managed uncover any additional dirt would be akin to cutting their own throat's, and they know it.

City vs UEFa was acceptable, City vs FA will not. PL taking L wouldn't look good for global PL brand and as mentioned earlier here, they have messes up bending into pressure Hateful 8 and Yanks. I don't know what they are still checking, they have evidence but probably don't have balls to pass judgement. Probably they will say it was time barred and will fine us £5m

What was the original "dirt"

Key word “ commercial “

Has it come out as a result of City referring to it the annual accounts?
Yes, I would guess that since the courts decided it was in the public interest to announce that there was an investigation (still) that we had to acknowledge it in the books. If they managed to concoct something then they could heavily fine us, which would have an impact on our books going forward.

According to Der Spiegel there were 3 areas under investigation by the PL (whether it's true or not is another matter, as the PL wouldn't reply to them):-

Already, the English football league has spent years investigating Manchester City, largely out of the public eye. According to information obtained by DER SPIEGEL, that investigation is focusing on three primary allegations.

  1. Underage players were allegedly pressured to sign contracts with Manchester City through monetary payments, in violation of the rules.
  2. Club sponsors in Abu Dhabi are suspected of having provided only a portion of their payments to the club themselves, with the majority apparently coming from Sheikh Mansour himself.
  3. Roberto Mancini, who is currently the trainer for the Italian national team but who spent the years from 2009 to 2013 as the trainer for ManCity, is thought to have received a significant portion of his compensation secretly by way of a fictitious consultancy contract.

The Mancini one is laughable because his consultancy happened in 2009 well before FFP existed. There is nothing secretive about it and it happens all the time and is perfectly legal. Total bollocks.
