Re: Cavani Speculation/News
It's about making a statement as much as anything. The team has failed in its main goals this season and with a new manager coming in it is a great time to revitalise the team. When RVP signed for the rags it meant we were the same team as the previous year (when we won on goal difference) and united had added a goal scorer.
Despite the fact that yes we have a great team and yes we can perform better you always need to make additions to encourage competition in the squad and develop a range of options. We have a great first 11 but we have a one dimensional play. We have no real way of changing things up.
Cavani will add so much to the squad simply through his reputation and what he can do, and that will leave so much more freedom for our other players. I believe we will see Aguero at his best when playing in and around someone like Cavani.
Look at Bayern for example, they have won the champions league and yet are still improving their squad. We need to develop a plan B also, whether that is through Isco and more mobile midfielders, but Cavani as a marquee signing and alongside a new manager will be a major statement to the rest of the league even before we play our first game. We didn't score enough last season, that is the fact of the matter. Our play was one dimensional yes but addressing problem 1 would be Cavani.
