I may be mad but reading this thread almost wants me to give up on next years title already - FFS - We have, at the moment, Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and to a lesser extent - Guidetti. Now I recall that when we signed Aguero he was THE sought after striker in world football (excluding messi et al) and although he didn't have a record breaking season last season (it was disrupted by injury and marriage break up) but is still a fucking shit hot striker. Dzeko, when we signed him from Germany was a sought after player who was banging them in left right and centre. I also think we all agree that Tevez if he were to sign on for 2 more years would continue to produce what we all know he can and does.

I do think Cavani would be a good signing but the money being talked about is obscene and I'm sick of the cat and mouse game played by the media - the only people quiet on this are the supposed buying clubs - us and Chelsea, I do think he'd be a huge upgrade on Dzeko and if supposed interest in Dzeko from Napoli is true then we should work hard at a deal from that angle BUT next season is not a write off - it's not like we're possibly starting the season with Bradbury, Creaney, Vuoso and Peacock is it? We're starting with 3 really really good strikers who have, and will again bang in 20+ goals each a season. Not getting Cavani is not the end of the world.

But it would be fucking ace!
Tevez, Aguero and Dzeko flopped big style last season. I think tevez is struggling to be a scoring threat after losing a bit of pace, and Aguero and Dzeko can't play together, as their game are polar opposites.

-- Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:27 pm --

Forget Cavani if Ivanovic is available from Chelsea I'd rather go for him he's a great defender.
Great in the air, but an absolute liability on the ground as he's so slow

Don't like the guy, but it seems ADL is playing a blinder, not too hard with one of the most sought after strikers in world football, but still.
Admirable he is ADL. Though we have some people with savvy now as well so its going to be interesting . Barcelonas dealings were always extended affairs , but they often got their man...!

Probably because they're Barcelona.

Daily Mail says Real Madrid have opened talks over Cavani... not sure where they got that info from though. Also:

Manchester City were also expected to bid for Cavani last night but Edin Dzeko may not now be part of that package.

Said all along that we should just slap 60mil euros cash on the table and be done with it.

We can deal with unloading players throughout the rest of summer, we'll not be short of decent offers for our players.

If we play some good entertaining football and finish 3rd it wouldn't kill me tbh. It's never been about the glory for me.

only this.
i would be crushed though if we were approaching last weeks of season in the driver's seat and then pulled a trick similar to what our red buddies came up with in april/may of 2012.

Tancredi Palmeri: Confirmed what I anticipated this afternoon: Chelsea should propose in next hours 40m € +Torres to Napoli for Cavani, according to Sky Italy

Wow. Daft, thats what, like £85m if you consider Torres as a £50m singing.
