Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

Admittedly I haven't read all of this thread (haven't got the time, energy or inclination to be honest) but I get the impression there are alot of Dzeko haters out there. Bit of a shame really bearing in mind he was last season's top scorer. Each to their own and everyone is entitled to their own opinion (in most countries) I guess.

In my line of business I have to be impartial, independent and objective (no I'm not in the fuzz before anyone asks!)...so when I look at the stats...it shows me Dzeko started less games than the other main strikers (who completed a season) and scored more than them. Admittedly he didn't have many assists but he's there to score goals?! It looks to me as if he did his job there and he's probably the cheapest striker we have in wages terms).

Now for the subjective bit, I thought that Dzeko thrives on crosses but virtually every game I watched last season we hardly ever used the flanks or whipped in many crosses. My understanding is that Pellegrini prefers (and City is going to play) 4-3-3 with balls whipped into the box next season etc? I was under the impression that Pellegrini liked playing with a big frontman (he signed Van Nisterbloke awhile back) so I would have thought Dzeko is Pellegrini's type of player? Admittedly he has two years left on his contract but we only have three recognised strikers and Tevez (and his big wages) is constantly linked with a move away at the moment. I would have thought if Tevez is moving on that City would hold on to Aguero & Dzeko and bring in a striker or two? I'm not a football manager but would have thought a little consistency would help here not all change on the striker front in a six month period or so?

Anyway, just my views...apologies to the Dzeko haters...big up to the Dzeko lovers!

Much love

True enough, but as a Premier League player, Van Nistlerooy was sacrificed by Ferguson, because even though he scored shedloads he ruined the balance of the team. Dzeko needs to contribute more than goals next season imo.

Likewise Berbatov. 20 goals, Golden Boot winner - hardly played the next season as Ferguson felt he was too slow for the team and upset the balance.

I like Dzeko the player and think he's the best goalscorer at the club as proven last season when he made so few starts but scored a decent no of goals

Problem is not the quality of our forwards but fitting them into the team, and getting players in who get the most out of each other. eg Balotelli goes to AC Milan and plays a different role, and looks twice the player.

It's not a question of buying star strikers, we have them, but in finding a good balance

I think Dzeko will go, because even with Navas I still don't see City playing down the wings - Navas maybe used as a sub, or an occasional starter like AJ.

I'd like to see City sign a foil for Aguero and the most obvious player who looks like he's available is Higuain but looks like he could go elsewhere

*He also used to stand up to Ronaldo and make him look silly. Called his Mum a fat, ugly chav or something very similar.

-- Tue Jun 18, 2013 8:03 pm --

Berbatov should have come here. He'd still be here now if he did. Would have been a more suitable club for him.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

I do agree what TH was saying this morning regarding Dzeko only having two years left on his deal come January, and for sure I can't see him renewing.

If an offer comes in around £20m I would consider selling and either put the money towards Cavani, or if we can sneak in and get Higuain.

Higuain is a little like for like on Dzeko but I firmly believe his atrributes will prove to be better in our system resulting in us getting the best out of him, I can never see us doing that with Edin.

You know I'm just going to come out and say this. If it's a fight between City and Dzeko, I'll choose City every time.

Don't doubt that and it's normal stuff..

You also know what would Dzeko pick between your and his wishes though.

Not sure what his thoughts are but I do know that last thing I would think about is to do any kind of "favour" to lot, if not most of City fans. They deserve fuck all let alone a "favour" from him. Rag-alike characters after few years only on top, scary to think what will it look alike in decade or two.
If anyone is rag-like it's not the fans who pour their hearts and souls into this club. It's the ones that refer to City fans as a separate group. Says a lot about who or what they really support.

It might not surprise you but I couldn't give a less shit about football fan group mentality ;)

Do you listen to the City fans during matches, they sing Dzeko's name at the top of their lungs. Where the fuck you're getting the idea that most are 'haters' I've no idea. Perhaps you shouldn't use an Internet forum to gauge what the majority of fans' opinion is, just a thought.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

Just seen this on Twitter..

I don't know who Marolda is though.

Marolda: "Cavani wanted to leave for more than a year. The problem is Napoli can't be held hostage but an agreement is now close" (CdS)

Cattaneo on Cavani: "The race is between Chelsea & Madrid. Player's preferred destination is #RMCF but #CFC are pressing a lot." [Mediaset]
