For the money being demanded by Napoli you would expect to be getting a superstar. This figure is not a million miles away from Ronaldo money. Cavani looks good for Napoli but surely for a extra £20mil we should spunk the lot on a world beater who not only is a guaranteed success (proven) but also would repay the fee in commercial revenue. Back to reality my point being that the money for Cavani is a joke and i sincerely hope ADL doesnt convince City to bend over and open wide.

Keep what we have got, buy a kid for the future (isco) and watch Dzeko tear the premier league a new one next season (wishful thinking?)
Rightly or wrongly, I can't get his Uruguay performance against Spain out of my head.

A £50m footballer should look like one whether they are playing for club or country. Shouldn't be gambling and guessing with the transfer fee that's being quoted

I'm not sure Dzeko will ever play to his best at City either. So if not Cavani, then we need an other

over 30 goals a season for the last 3 seasons for napoli....

one poor game for Uruguay doe not change the fact he is a top class striker.
I give you Dzeko.

Well I've seen a £200m footballer have poor games for Argentina and an £80m footballer have atrocious games for Portugal. Shocking logic. Try watching a player over a good quantity of a full season before being so fickle.

This.
Except I've seen him play numerous times for Uruguay and he rarely plays well for them.

Remember the Olympics? Uruguay were very disappointing - not least Cavani

It is a fact, like it or not, that he has not been able to produce his club form for Uruguay

Some players are just great club players and some are great country players, some lucky ones are both.

You have to take bonding issues into account for your country, Cavani spends a matter of weeks a year with Uruguay compared to the 10-11 months he does for his club.

Uruguay are a poor team currently, their midfield looks dire.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

He's scored 104 goals in his last 138 games at club level (<--- very important as City are a club, not a country and we've been over the club vs. country thing where even Messi and Ronaldo have hugely inferior records compared to club). He scores more goals than Van Persie, Dzeko, Aguero, Tevez, Suarez, Higuain, Benzema, Gomez. Besides Messi and Ronaldo, only Falcao and Ibra really have comparable strike rate. That's why he is "special" and why Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid (not Benfica, Spurs and Inter) are after him. People are trying to downplay his quality because of his price tag and the big chance he won't join us. Saw it last summer with Van Persie, especially after his very poor performances for Holland in Euro 2012... oh, that sounds familiar.

PS: That horrible **** Jeremy Cross is running a City snub story on the Star back page.

So is that down to him or Uruguay.

Sometimes you have to look at the reasons he doesnt perform well for uruguay maybe the system doesnt suit him as they play with 2 def mids at city he would have service service and more service and if we get isco the world would be his oyster.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

I rate him highly but the price being quoted is madness, all the players listed were all sold for a lot less except Ronaldo and Falcao who are both amazing talents not that Cavani isn't great but in my opinion hes isn't as good as either of them. But to be honest I think every player is over priced, think I must be getting old!lol

Re: Cavani Speculation/News 3 (or 4)

Thursday evening Uruguay play Nigeria

He has to produce then or I'll destroy his transfer value by issuing a Vote of No Coinfidence

Maybe trying to lower his fee. Imagine if he bagged a hat trick.
