Cavani

Cavani and Lavezzi would cause any team in Europe problems, Not only are they good players, But they have a fantastic work rate to win the ball back which is nice too see from strikers.

Talksport have reported that Napoli are bracing themselves for `last gasp interest` from Manchester City. His agent has played it down though, it is apparently in the Italian media. Might be bollocks, but just noticed this on the BBC and Talksport sites.

Would be great, but can't see it. He'll be the first in this summer though...............

Here's a thought that should provoke some grief - anyone think David Luiz could be a very good holding midfield player for us? Don't rate his positional sense for a centre half, but has all the other attributes and an abundance of skill to be infront of them on his own POSSIBLY thereby releasing another player to be offensive for us next season?

I'm not sure if it was you on the other thread ANY1, but is that team you've put out also with Mourinho as manager?

;o)))

Was thinking same about Luiz but not for us thanks..... But Cavani and lavezi .... Yes please

Theres a thread on every club forum about this guy and how they think they will get him. I think if we were fully committed to signing this player we could easily pull it off especially if we won the league.

Size, strength, technical ability, workrate, skill, speed, stamina... he has just about everything. As I said one page one in this thread I think he is one transfer to a top club (who challenge for honours year in, year out) away from being the best forward of his type in the world. And I believe he would fit in beautifully for us as his movement is great and he reads the game so well. Plus he is very fast for a man of 6'2" and can pick a run that someone like Silva would identify and feed the ball to.

Napoli should enjoy this brief golden era they're having as they'll be back to square one soon with Vargas (another exciting South American signing) having to step up and replacements needed for others. They may be able to keep hold of Inler and Hamsik (who is a bit overrated I feel but still good enough for many good clubs) if they're lucky but no way will Cavani and Lavezzi stay there. Cavani has everyone chasing him, while Inter and City are just two clubs trailing Lavezzi.

A shame we signed Dzeko instead of this lad, while i like Dzeko,he simply doesn't have the mobility, awareness, timing or ability of Cavani.

I'd love to think we can find a buyer for Edin and get Cavani in as his replacement. He suits our play far better and would fit in seemlessly imo.

i think if we were to get him, a loan deal with option to buy might be the way to go. Simply because he isnt proven outside of serie A, and we cant afford another flop.

Tevez and Ade to Real for Higuain, Dzeko to Juve for £25mill, Cavani to us for £40mill = Kun, Balo, Higuain and Cavani at City and the best range of strikers at any club in the world.

Manchester City line up €50 million bid for Napoli's Cavani - report
The Uruguay international, who has again been in fine goal-scoring for the Partenopei this season, will allegedly be offered a lucrative contract to make the move to Eastlands

Manchester City are reportedly willing to offer Napoli €50 million for star striker Edinson Cavani.

According to Tuttosport, the English club's owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is desperate to bring the Uruguay international to Eastlands this summer.

The Italian paper claims that City are ready to offer the 25-year-old forward a contract worth €4-5m per season.

Napoli's outspoken owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has resisted all previous opportunities to cash in on his Uruguayan star, but his resolve could be tested by a €50m bid from the Premier League leaders.

Cavani moved to the San Paolo from Palermo in 2010 for €16m. He has scored over 50 goals for Napoli in all competitions in just under 80 appearances.

don't think we'll be spending 50 million any time soon

-- Wed Feb 29, 2012 2:30 pm --

don't think we'll be spending 50 million any time soon

I don't either, to be honest I don't think we need another striker, if/when Tevez goes we have Guidetti who is more than capable of being a 4th choice striker. With injuries/suspensions/form and 4 competitions he will get playing time. He won't cost a thing and he's home grown. Young and determined to do well with City. Not having to spend money on a striker would then allow us to spend elsewhere, get a backup CM or winger etc.

Of course I would love Cavani but we just don't need another striker. If there was a way however, I would try to swap Cavani with Dzeko, im not bashing Dzeko, the guy has scored plenty of goals for us, but personally I see Dzeko as the weakest out of himself, Aguero and Balotelli. I am however grateful to everything Dzeko has done and if he stays i will still support him, but his lack of pace/flair does get frustrating.

Not needed because we have 3 WC strikers with Sergio, Edin & MArio.

The 4th spot should be given to youngster or an old experienced striker who will accept to be benched regularly.

We don't need Cavanni. We don't have a problem at striker. We have 3 pretty highly rated ones. And a fourth for the time been. We have a youth prospect doing well in Holland. In short, striker is our only settled position. Unless something drastic happens and we lose 3 of the 5 we currently have, there will be no need to bring in a top end strikers.

Would rather have Lavezzi, but Cavani + Lavezzi would be a dream come true.

Can't imagine Dzeko sticking around to be 4th choice so probably him to Juve with Guidetti as our 4th striker.

Not likely though, Tutto dream up shit all the time.

Why do you people want to get rid of Dzeko and bring in Cavani? It wasnt that long ago that everyone was wanking over Edin before we signed him.

Bring in both Lavezzi and Cavani and completely change the way we play? What for?
