Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

Did you all know the tricolour is a flag of unity, look at the colours, orange no explanation needed, green as the national colour, binded by the neutral white, it was hijacked by para military groups, but the flag should represent harmony. :-)

I am indeed aware of that Peggy. However, there is nothing wrong with Celtic fans flying it.
On flags, spotted some city fans with an israel one. Is there some connection or was it an attempt to wind up Celtic fans? Genuine question

What's that got to do with my quote?

But you do realise you're a Scottish club don't you

you replied to IrishBlueSince92 with a skeptical massive hmmmmm. And yes, we are a Scottish club with massive Irish roots.

Tim your not bothered how how your club and fans are seen...

Well they are seen as bigoted lowlife chav types.

Im not part of the love us love us brigade. Youre entitled to your view but dont speak for everyone, I know plenty of people in Manchester who dont see us that way

do you know anything about Celtic? Genuine question? If you did you would know the Irish national flag is very much part of the club

the Irish flag is not used as a historical reminder. It's used as some kind of political statement and if your to naive to know that then you need to rethink your allegiance.

I hate that these idiotic bigots use, rangers or Celtic, religion as an excuse to loathe each other and misbehave at our club.

A club, our club, that is so welcoming to all that their bile is offensive in the extreme.

I don't want their sort anywhere near our wonderful club.

Tim can you show us these blues with anything nice to say about the club who's fans celebrate murders as I'm struggling here to see any plus points off any blues our kid..

catch yourself on and, like your pal above, dont speak for everyone. Have a look at the history of the club and Ireland. Have a look at the issues surrounding the flying of the Irish national flag at Celtic Park. Also, can you tell me why some City fans were flying an Israel flag at your wonderfully welcoming club

I dont know how I can show you but I do know a lot of City fans who would also support Celtic. Believe me or dont, your choice. Im off home now, hopefully continue this later. I do enjoy reasonable discussions like this. If I dont get on later, best of luck in the last 16 and beyond

Tim losing it, welcoming I didn't want those vile bigots anywhere near our City..

Tim be truthful my mate do you sing those songs about Fusilier Rigby etc go on be truthful as we all know what the answer is don't we my mate.

Well I responded to him as I think he's a rag

As so what if celtic have Irish roots your NOT an Irish team

Nothing wrong with the flag of a country, which has massive roots with the heritage and formation of the club, surely?

I was founded 54 years ago in an act of union between an Irish man and an Irish woman, but as I was born, bred and buttered in Manchester that's what I am, a manc and English and proud of it.

Being Scottish isn't enough for these retards they need to be Irish too.

I'd never given Celtic much thought before last night, but having seen them close up, I have to conclude that I'd be happy never to play them again. They really are scum.

I play GAA for a Manchester team. Try telling them they're an English club. I view Celtic in the same way.

But they're and English club arnt they, well unless Manchester has moved and someone forgot to tell me

What am I losing? I'm not the one getting angry on here am I?
The answer is no and I can honestly say I've never heard anyone singing songs about him

Many Celtic fans are locked into historic events that have sod all to do with football or even life as it is today. They seem to think that because they are related to individuals who experienced life as it was 300 years ago that they have to behave in a way that in their heads pays respect to those ancestors. Just imagine if the rest of us took the same way of remembering the events of 1914 - 18. Time to move on but they won't, its a crutch to elevate personal and cultural esteem to fictional but desired levels.

Really big difference between Celtic being founded and yourself.
You're missing the point. Many of the Celtic fans are Irish. That's not counting second or third generation ones

It's more than just roots though Tanze. It's heritage, culture. More than I can explain.
I get that people of other clubs don't see that or like it but hey that's life.

There are plenty of our fans who need history lessons and would do well to learn the stories behind some of the sons they sing. But football terraces have always been a place to talk about and learn about and even be proactive in political causes if you will. Celtic have always have had that aspect and hopefully always will. Has there never been an identical identity at city? At Maine Road? On the Kippax?

Irrespective of their nationality, singing pro IRA anti English songs is not acceptable in this day and age.

They need to grow up and move on.

The media should be coming down on these Neanderthals.
