Cant really blame GMP for wanting to shut the city down, but in all honesty speaking as someone that lived in Glasgow for 5 years when Celtic reached Uefa cup final they took 80,000 fans to Seville and not 1 arrest in fairness to them it does seem to be the rangers fans that cuase any trouble when away.
Im defo going to the game will be good atmosphere and celtic i would expect to bring at least 15,000 down?

So you're suggesting that if Celtic's final had been played in Manchester and Rangers had travelled to Seville for theirs - Manchester would have been trouble free and the "good old, loveable" Celtic fans would have just stood at the broken screen (with the match under way) and smiled ???? Bullshit pal !

Celtic fan stabs fellow Celtic fan in Seville

A 38-YEAR-OLD Edinburgh man is expected to appear in court in Spain today charged with stabbing a fellow Celtic supporter on the eve of the club’s Uefa Cup final match against Porto.
The man, who has not been named, is reported to have attacked his victim near an Irish bar popular with visiting supporters.

The 23-year-old victim, was eating dinner with friends near Seville’s 15th century cathedral when the knifeman struck.

He was taken to hospital after the stabbing where he was being treated for cuts to his arm and neck last night.

In a separate incident another Celtic fan was due to appear in court after wrecking his hotel room in the Novotel Hotel in Seville after a drinking binge. The 41-year-old man was said to have caused serious damage.

However, both incidents have been seen as relatively minor as tens of thousands of Celtic supporters descend on Seville to soak up the sunshine and atmosphere in the build up to their side’s first European final for 33 years.

Spanish authorities have been preparing for the mass influx of supporters for tonight’s match against Porto and it has been estimated that as many as 55,000 Celtic supporters will be in Spain, with or without tickets or accommodation.

The exodus of Celtic fans by air is continuing unabated today as it emerged thousands of fans were catching last-minute flights to Spain for tonight’s match.

More than 40 flights are scheduled to leave Glasgow and Prestwick airports carrying around 18,000 supporters to Seville in time for tonight’s game.

Most fans are expected to fly back tomorrow following Celtic’s clash with Portuguese giants Porto at the city’s Olimpico Stadium.

British Airports Authority spokesman Malcolm Robertson said there had been a steady flow of fans at what is already a busy time of year for the airport. He said: "Tomorrow we have 65 flights coming back with supporters. Most of the people who have flown out in the past few days will be coming back at the same time.

"It could be our busiest day of the year as we have an estimated 30,000 people coming through Glasgow Airport."

The British Consul in Andalucia, Bruce McIntyre, said today he was confident the authorities would cope with the influx "I attended a meeting last night and the whole system of securing and policing the event seemed pretty well sewn up, so I’m hopeful that everything will go off without any problems."

"The fans have to do what they can and they will probably spend most of the night in the bars or in the park," he said.

Tickets for the game have been changing hands for hundreds of pounds - although officials have warned fans that they could be buying fakes. There are said to be 700 forged tickets in circulation Mr McIntyre added: "I hope they will be moderate in their partying, Seville is a fairly welcoming place but they won't take too kindly to anyone causing fights or that sort of thing."

Uefa and the Spanish police have also issued a warning to fans not to attempt to buy a ticket at this late stage, as it is likely to be a forgery. "Don't waste your money buying your tickets from touts," said the Consul. "You'll lose your money and you will not be allowed into the stadium."

In Glasgow, extra police officers are being drafted in to cope with the thousands of fans expected to crowd into pubs and clubs on Wednesday night.

More stuff on the great we never cause any trouble Celtic support.

Can we al just be honest now. Both the OF have fans that have/do cause trouble. As have virtually every team in the land.

For the Celtic fans on here. You are more than welcome. City fans are the best in the country (apart from a couple of bellends, all clubs have em) If you are at Shambles I will see you there. It wil be a great day

May be the police may put a block on it after this article taken from the MUEN

ORGANISERS of a popular `family' football tournament for old pros may ban teams after dozens of fans were involved in violent clashes.

Some 20 Burnley and Oldham supporters were thrown out of the M.E.N. Arena during Saturday night's Masters tournament in Manchester - mostly for throwing beer on the players.

Fans were also reported to have been involved in fighting and racist chanting in Manchester city centre before and after the event on Saturday.

Sinclair's Oyster Bar and the Old Wellington Inn shut their doors before and after the tournament because fans were causing trouble.

One eyewitness described how police moved on a huge group of chanting football supporters who had spilled out of the Sawyer's Arms on to Deansgate.

"It was very loud and very intimidating," said the witness. "A lot of them were wearing Burnley shirts. Uniformed police officers came down and quickly moved them on."

It is understood Burnley - playing in the tournament for the first time - and Oldham could be banned from next year's event unless assurances about security can be given to the organisers.

About 7,500 people attended Saturday's north west heat of the Masters at the M.E.N. Arena, which was televised by Sky Sport.

Bolton won through to the grand final next month, beating former football greats from Manchester City, United and Blackburn as well as Oldham and Burnley.

Among the former stars on show were former United winger Lee Sharpe and City attacker Nicky Summerbee.

John Knight, general manager of the M.E.N. Arena said: "There appears to have been a small element of Burnley and Oldham fans who were not interested in the football.

"We have had many years of Masters football. It's a family event. We've never had to segregate fans.

" We've had United sitting next to Liverpool fans and there's always been good-natured banter.

"It's disappointing a few people spoil the entertainment for thousands of others.

"We will be seeking assurances from the organisers on the teams that are invited to next year's event."

Phil Worsley, assistant manager at Sinclair's Oyster Bar, said: "There was a lot of animosity between different groups.

"There was a lot of chanting and name-calling."

Old Wellington asistant manager Peter Allen said: "The atmosphere was pretty good during the day but then it deteriorated and we had to shut.

"People started getting pretty lairy. I saw one man on the ground on Cateaton Street with 10 or 12 people around him.

"There was some blood and he was in the recovery position. He looked catatonic. It looked he was very drunk and he had a head injury.

"When the police got there, I left them to it."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed it had received a number of reports of fighting but that officers had not encountered any serious disturbances.

The force also responded to a report of around 50 supporters involved in racist chanting outside the Sawyer's Arms pub on Deansgate.

"There were reports of disturbance and annoyance but no major disturbance took place," said the GMP spokesman.
