You really need to give this boy a chance.

I think he’s as good as Sane.

He's nowhere near. He also got lazy up in Scotland as proved when he decided to go back there when we had PL loans lined up. SPL isn't going to be challenging enough for any player with real aspirations of making it at City.

Ok I give up, he’s shit and we made him worse. I’m now away to sniff glue after my dinner. Before is just bad form. You lot are fucking spoiled rotten.

We’ll see.

The question needs to be where they ever good enough to get into your team? I would say none of them were to the level required to get into your team. That goes for nearly all the players in the EP. Would you not agree?

The question for me should be, if we can improve them and you sell them on to lesser teams for good money then it helps your fair financial situation. It also allows young Guys not of that class you are lucky to have in your team to play. To develop. You take a punt on loads of young guys because you have the resources to. That model financially is dependent on recouping the initial outlay or playing in your team.

If you gave us a real star who would definitely get into your team in say two seasons, then playing with us battle hardens them. Playing in Europe allows them to test themselves against the best. That way we improve the guy. He grows mentally and his confidence grows because he has showed he can cut it.

We benefit for having precotious talent that even if it doesn’t hit the Silva et al level, we can possibly buy.

You need to ask any young player, would they prefer to play for us than say a championship team who never play in Europe, I think I know what the answer is.

A wider perspective is required as I think your focus is too narrow. I respect your view, but it has to be put in context in relation to whether they would ever play for city at all, and what would be best for them as young men desperate to play for a big club. We are in a shit league but we are a big club in temperament and history, we have one of the biggest supports in world football who expect more than is possible within our financial environment.

I hope we can continue to take your young players, as I think all three party’s benefit. You get to watch them in Europe. We get them for Europe and at the end if they do well you will get a return financially, or a player in the squad who you know can handle pressure.

Just my take.

Its fair to have that opinion mate of course - I certainly see the benefit to you as a club. Low risk for potential high reward of a young kid that could come good.
I do also agree about the fans, playing in your stadium, particularly on a european night (cliche) will give them experience of passion and pressures comparative to anything they will ever see in their careers. Completely agree that is beneficial to their development from that view and I can appreciate the draw that would be to a young player. As seen by roberts second loan.

But from our perspective now, looking at it from a neutral view if you can, city have not yet benefitted from these loans, and hence I’m saying we should be asking why and looking for alternatives.
We’ve recently sent plenty of other players on loan to Holland and Spain and the championship and made money on their sales - angelino, maffeo, gunn, unal etc.

This has worked. Celtic/scottish football has not

I think the real problem with loans to Celtic is that you can't really buy them if they're any good, so there's a sort of conflict. You want them to be good but not so good that they're beyond your means. The Champions League action at Celtic is obviously a big pull for City. You're almost guaranteed involvement unless the worst happens like this year. But Celtic can't really compete with teams in the better European leagues when it comes to buying good players. 3 and 4 million quid is a big chunk for you guys. 7 or 8 is a bit beyond your means I think. But it's not nearly a deterrent for the better teams in Europe and that's the potential level of any player you'd want on loan at Celtic. It's a bit of a shame in a way because Celtic can offer things that a lot of teams can't and they've always liked to play attacking football. I think these loans are a double-edged sword for both clubs that a loan to a good smaller club wouldn't be.

I take your points. We and I mean our CEO, has made a complete **** of it. He failed to get in any of our defensive targets and we all knew this would fuck us up in the CL. All three goals scored by AEK were defensive fuck ups. So because of that prick, we are down a minimum of £65m and that’s even if we got handed our arse in every game.

That would have allowed us to give you the £10m or so that players not in the superstar bracket you field but still excellent players to sign if you felt it was a good deal and they weren’t of the class you are used to.

I am absolutely raging at Lawell, always a dithering, cheapskate, egotistical ****. He should be out the door.

It’s times like these that I wish I didn’t give a fuck about football. Sadly the virus is incurable so I am fucked.

We are also two days away from the EL playoff and still he has done nothing.

I fucking hate the prick.

What a week to give up sniffing glue.

I imagine a winter without the CL is a bit of a bleak prospect. No icing on the cake so to speak. No raisins in it either, really.
