Just thought, i have been holding out in the belief that Lescott will come good and prove his worth, however i have to admit that i an not convinced.

How about trying Yaya at centre half with Kompany?

i seem to remember him having a blinder in the CL final against the rags, Tall, powerfull experienced. i think we could do worse.

i also think this would free up our midfield options.

Tin hat on ready.

Lescott will get found out this season. Massive fee for an average defender

Great in the air, but achingly 1 footed, slow and has no distribution.

Dont think Yaya is the answer back there. See how Savic looks when he gets a chance, or see if Kolo comes back hungry (no pun intended)

Lescott was better than Kompany yesterday, he'a strange scapegoat considering he's not done much wrong for months.

However I will agree long-term Mancini will want a defender who is more comfortable with the ball at his feet and less prone to hitting it long. Savic can do that but has to first prove he can handle the intense Premier League defending (ie. is he ready yet to be in a scenario like the defensive performance vs. Arsenal last season?).

We might still sign Coates yet too and with Kolo coming back there would be lots of competition.

When did Kolo suddenly get good, he's been shite since he joined. Lescott's a better defender. Strange thread to start after yesterday as well, he played ok compared to most.

the rags yesterday spotted how easy is create difficult at city simply pressing everybody but lescott

Needed much more in midfield. When he gets on form he dictates play for us and bosses the midfield. Plus he gives us an attacking threat and goals.

But Lescott has been fantastic next to Vinny for a while now and I don't see why one bad game should cause us to completely reinvent our system.

We're missing him already, a stunning display on his Bayern debut.

Yeah, he's had some decent performances, but i honestly don't think he is a top central defender, defo not to the level we require if we're challenging for the league and facing top strikers in europe... But i think Vinny can carry anyone who he's next too, legend in the making.

Yaya Toure is excellently versatile. Although, putting him in central defence would be far too encumbering for him. It's a waste of £28 million. I'm sanguine about Savic. He should break into the team before the first half of the season if he's to fully fulfil my expectations.

Yeah, Tevez is back now.

Why fans are still on Lescott's back is beyond me.

He has been fantastic for us since he came back into the team, and that was well before Kolo's ban.

People only notice he is one-footed because he is a leftie; right-footers can be equally as one-footed.

Central defensive partnerships only develop with time and games together. Dunne and Distin were a case in point. Their partnership was the perfect example of the whole being greater than the sum of the two parts.

And it was Vinnie who had the nightmare yesterday, but no one is making him a scapegoat. Leave them together and I firmly believe they will be even better this season than they were last. After all, many centre-backs are late developers and reach their peak after they reach their 30s.

I get called 'rag' for this sort of scandelous suggestion.........but you're dead right. Lescott isnt good enough and nor, unfortunately, are Kolarov and Toure.

Have to agree with this, we can't blame our best player of last season so lets make the player next to him scapegoat. I am Kompany's biggest fan but he was at fault yesterday. Lescott towards the back end of last season has found his scoring touch and got another yesterday. City weren't great all over the pitch, we didn't look as fit or as sharp as United, that will come though.

I would like to see Lescott and Kompany given a chance to start next season how they ended last season.
