Do not use sealant!! Use PTFE tape instead. Wrap it around the thread the same way as the nut tightens

The only place PTFE tape should be used is on the rad tails where they screw into the radiator itself. They should not be used on the threads on the union (where the nut screws on). All that nut does is secure the face of the union or olive. No tape or sealant should be used on unions or compression fittings.
 
A Word of warning , watch out when you lift the radiator off the brackets, there is always some brown sludge hiding in there just waiting until you are carrying the rad over your nice clean carpets. No matter how much you drain the rad it will still be there...waiting...stain on the carpet :-(
 
The old saying spend a few quid now with someone who knows what there doing or thousands later trust me I've been there.
