Centre back options

What about Toby Alderweld of Spurs? I know there has not been too many links between City and this player but he did lead one of the best defences of any Premier League Team and he is having contract disputes with his club at the moment. So are going to get Walker off them, why not try and sign him up as well?

Likewise I feel that we actually need 2 CB's and not just one considering the improvements we need to take in this department.

There's a difference between 28 year old being short term and 33 year old.
I checked his stats and he's 33 next season. Still playing regularly. Last time I saw him he was a rolls royce of a player. I am just thinking about players who we know can do a job in the short term, not expensive gambles like Mangala and Otamendi which didn't work. Or Stones tbh. I think he'll be a player, but can't play on his own yet.

Alves is 34. Depends on the player as to how his game is affected. Who would you like to see come in?

I give you his first stint at City was a disaster. What I am trying to say is that he has come a long way since that. He is truly world class and has the credentials to prove it. There aren't many higher decorated CB's around.
But how's that any different to saying messi is the best forward in the world. We aren't signing Messi. What gives you the idea we would sign Boateng. I expect he would laugh at the thought. Players are unlikely to return to a place he had a bad experience

I keep telling you who it is but nobody will believe me .... the clue is the shrouded in secrecy bit......sneaking him in so not to frighten the staff

It's going to be a sad day when Utd sell him.

I am not saying we will sign him. His name was mentioned earlier in the thread as one possibility.

Alves is 34, and we would not have signed him if he wasn't on a free. We're giving him a 2 year contract.

Thiago Silva is 33 in September and signed a new contract last summer, so he'd be expensive as fuck and is on insane wages as well. And maybe we'd get 2 seasons out of him if we're lucky?

It's so obviously not worth it.

He left us because his ex-fiance was pregnant with twins and he wanted to be near his kids when they were born. Ended up reconciling with her as well so it went well for him.

There wasn't an issue between him and the club AFAIK.

Not to mention there's a completely new coaching staff now, plus some of his Germany teammates and the coach who he credits as the man who "taught him how to defend". How's that for a reason to return?
