Sorry, but you clearly no nothing. In no world is he slow, yet alone slower than MDM, the only people I've ever met who think he's slow are people who base their opinions of FIFA ratings.
As for failing at Madrid, he was a kid who was gotten rid of after never really getting a chance, as so many do at Real, in order to let big names be brought in. Mourinho came in and dumped all the players who he was allowed to dump, in order to bring in his own players.
The reason he is that cheap is most probably because Benfica only owned 40% of his rights, so in all probability, Zenit will buy another Benfica player this window for a vastly inflated fee, to screw Real out of their cut. My guess would be Rodrigo or Andre Gomes, but that's just a guess
Sorry but I don't even know what the FIFA ratings are.
However I have watched Benfica play a defensive line 2 yards from the edge of their box for the best part of 3 years.
I have watched Argentina struggle with the pace of the mighty Nigeria & Iran so far this World Cup.
Garay simply isn't very good, hence a move to Russia. Add Garay to Hulk & Witzel that have moved to Russia with huge reputations and limited talent.
We are looking for a centre half, we obviously scout Portugal we obviously have a strong Argentinian connection, yet us, United, a Chelsea, Barcelona and most of Italy are desperate for a decent centre half, yet NOT ONE team had shown any interest.
I wonder why?
Benfica play a line just outside their box for the last 3 years? Sorry, that's bullshit. This year they've played deeper in Europe, but before that they played a borderline suicidal highline and they always play high up the pitch in the league. As for Argentina, in what way have they struggled for pace? They've struggled with Fernandez being shit, but they've not been done for pace
To say Garay "simply isn't very good" is just a mental statement that seriously brings into question your intelligence or knowledge of football. I don't think anyone considers Witsel to have "limited talent" either.
As for no one else being interested, a) that's a strange way of judging a player, and b) simply isn't true. Fergusson essentially signed him for United last summer before Moyes pulled the plug, whereas Bayern were also after him this summer
So Bayern & United were interested in him, yet he opted to go to Russia? If you think he's fantastic then good for you, I don't. I think he's slow, I also think he's fairly clumsy with his defending.
If you think he's great, then super. I don't, and judging by his transfer fee and where he has gone I'm not alone.
In my opinion a deep line will make any decent defender in a two team league look good. I agree he's solid, ok on the ball. But he is slow, he is quite immobile. That's my opinion.
I also believe Luisao is far better.
Garay is approaching 28, he will have had a very average career. Am I wrong about that too?
Argentina were very open to the simple ball into and down the channels. Iran were very unlucky creating several chances between Garay & full back. As were Nigeria.
Witsel, he is a very run of the mill holding midfielder, lacking any real stand out attributes.
I don't share your opinions, that doesn't create a slight against my intelligence, it means I see football differently to you.
I'm the sort of guy that prefers Nasri to Milner, Garcia to De Jong, I appreciate all will not share my opinion, but it's my opinion.
I'm sure you have compiled some extensive dossier on Garay, perhaps you should forward it to the club, perhaps they'll give you a job.
As I say, I'll favour my own opinion over yours Thankyou, if I'm not favouring my own opinion then I'll go off simple facts, Garay was very good value, most decent teams are looking for good centre halves, there are very few about and yet, despite your insistence that Garay is the second coming of Bobby Moore, no body else paid any real attention to him..
