I'd say we're definitely going to be looking at getting a new cb in this summer then, who would you like to see?

I think it may be worth a go on Woodgate personally, a mix between Woodgate/Vince/Ned would give us some options

His injuries are the only thing that worry me though...

I think Hangeland has proven himself over the season and is a big reason Fulham are so high in the table. He would give us added strength from set plays, defending and attacking, something I think we lack. If we buy someone from Spain or Italy we might have to wait a season for them to adjust.

Neither Woodgate nor Haageland are better than what we already have!

However, after seeing Yaya Toure play center half against Chelski and then watching him score from midfield in the Copa Del Rey, I would venture a few quid on him and move Vince back into the back four when needed. He looks worth every penny of $20+M. If we could pick up his brother on the cheap, too, that would do wonders for our defensive strength and cause Hughes some GOOD TO HAVE selection problems.

Wonder what you think of Wheater (Ned's defensive partner for England U-21s) when Boro go down? He would provide good young cover, too.

Any good reserves coming through in that position?

Has Agger signed a deal at Liverpool yet? Be nice to get a leftie who can play on the ground as well as in the air. Not too many "traditional" center forwards in the Prem, so the need for the speed and mobility and the ability to have good touch on the ball is at a premium.

Agger has signed a new contract at liverpool.

Luisao (from another post) looks worth a look, another one we are always getting linked in here is Chiellini.

I'm hoping for either bruno alves or chiellini as both are good in the air and can play it along the ground to feet when needed

Bruno Alves and Chiellini would both be good! I wouldn't get Wheater, Boro have gone down for a reason! I would like to see Chrgynsky (spelling) from Shaktar! He is quality on the ball and is a beast! Van Buyten would be welcomed back for me too!

Mexes at Roma- Apparently he wants out, they haven’t qualified for CL this year, and perhaps our pay packet can relieve the disappointment of that. Plus I’ve heard Roma are skint!

Agger- I know he’s just signed a new contract so it’s unlikely Liverpool will sell but personally I think he will be a top defender for years to come

Sakho- Young French defender, only ever seen him place once, but have heard he’s the next best thing. Wenger wants him, obviously cos he’s French, but interestingly he’s a left footed centre back and I think has all the attributes to succeed in the prem.

Lescott- Good defender, will never be the best in the world but likewise is versatile and I think we may have to overspend to get him off Everton but hey, we have the money!

I know he became PSG younest ever captain, but I don't think he's the permanent captain?
