Centre Parcs

I've been a few times. Always enjoyed it. Book a new style woodland lodge as they are a bit more modern.

The pool is the best bit and the only thing you don't pay for.

Eating out etc isn't exactly fine dining but not too expensive and the shop has everything you need but you will pay a bit more than your local. It's not too bad though.

I've been around 8 times over the years so must do something right.

it can be very expensive, but it is s a great relaxing holiday. We went for a week at the end of November the other year. Think we only paid about £300 for the week in a nice little lodge ( one of the newer ones). the real expence is when you get there. Restaurants are expensive and not the best, the shop isn't actually too bad price wise, but still more expensive than a supermarket for most things. We just did a big shop on our way there and filled the cupboards and fridge. The activities seem like they cost a lot but some are well worth it, we only did the owl experience which was good. Then did the usual like pool, bowling, mini golf etc.

I loved it because the squirrels come to the back door all day for food. I spent most of the time letting them in the room and feeding them custard creams (which the Mrs bollocked me for, when she come out of the shower to see me feeding 5 squirrels sat on the settee)

I enjoyed it but be prepared it is extremely expensive, the restaurants are bit of a con for value, take your average chain food like Bella Italia and double the prices. The Indian is like £12 for the same curry you would get for half the price in your average curry house.

A fiver for a pint is also normal!

Still, it gets you outside and is a great experience for the kids.

Looking at booking Whinfell Forest for a weekend in March and just wondered if anyone had been to this site ? I know it's expensive but it's for my lads birthday and my anniversary as well so would be worth it . Any advice / tips on things to do would be appreciated . Thanks
Great place, going back in Feb, been there about 6 times now, defo book a lakeside apartment they are cheaper and excellent.

Been to the one at Whinfell Forest a few times and really enjoy it. Eating out can be a bit expensive but do a big shop before you go and you have all the equipment in the lodges to cook for yourselves on at least a couple of evenings. If you are going to do any of the activities book them as far in advance as you can as they do get booked up early. Don't leave it till you get there.
If you are doing the week rather than weekend booking you are only 40 minutes or so from Windermere so break the week up by having a day out there.

I've been quite a few times and will definitely be going again. I prefer Whinfell only because the centre is undercover and we have tended to fo in the spring or autumn when the wether can be more changeable. Great for breaks with children, and it can be as expensive or reasonable as you make it.

There is no need to eat in the restaurants if they are not to your tastes as all of the lodges are very well equipped and there is no restrictions on taking food into the parc.

Similarly, the pool area is free to use and the are some activities which are no more expensive than they would be anywhere else.

We've tended to book one or two activities each as we don't want to spend the time we are there running from one organised activity to another.

Give it a try, what's the worst that could happe

Ive bee about 6 times to Whinfield had a great time took the kids and also been with mother in law and brother law and his family. Well worth a visit it is expensive if you want to do any activities but if you want cheap then take your own bikes and just use the people and walks they are all free.

My top tip is to arrive early and call in at Penrith town centre before you go and do your shopping in Aldi or Morrisons pick up a few disposable barbies and or kindling for cabin fire (they are dear as fuck on site) We have had some great times there especially when they kids were young. But moved on to Butlins now for short breaks/ cheap holidays which our kids prefer due to the entertainment being much better and mostly free.
