Cesc Fabregas signs for Chelsea (page 190)

Too many posters basing Jose tactics on what we saw this season. He chose the safest way to play with the players he had. Cesc makes sense at Chelsea to me. I fear for Ramirez. Cesc is both defensive and a play maker. He will provide an additional avenue for the team. Matic is the quick release forward facing option. This brings an added dimension. Mata could not have played that role. By getting rid and buying CF they have a better fit and pocketed 8m. With Costa = very Good buisness.

BUT...... We have great stats for the second 2/3 season - we have a virtual new player in Jovetic, the beast will find form and Fernando gives us the option to push YaYa forward. All very scary stuff. Add Sagna as cover for Zab and Alex staying and getting better and better we have a real team to challenge. Regardless of CB recruitment.

As things stand, with Chelsea signing CF and Costa, and us currently having signed nobody, we are still a better side than them

Adding Fernando, Sagna and another CB will bolster us even more

Can you imagine how good we are going to be in Pellegrinis second season and with a top draw CB. Frightening.

Eh up andy :-)

Will be interested to see how he does in a jose team.
Seems a bit strange as he is a "freedom" player and jose doesn't really go for such players.
Has to be an abramovich signing.

It's got Romans fiddling fingers all over it. Let's hope it works out as well as Torres, arf.

I don't agree, i think he's a typical Mourinho signing to be honest

He more often than not goes for experienced, established and trusted players before youth and he knows he'll get all three from Fabragas.

No excuses from Mourinho next season, he MUST win something, the pressure and spotlight is on him, that'll suit us

I agree with all of that except for the very last bit. We must sign a top drawer centre back, or we run the risk of falling short if anything happens to Vinny.

What's with some of these football websites? Last year it was Ozil will win Arsenal the league and now Fabregas will win Chelsea the league. These players don't even compare to Silva (only comparable to Iniesta). Silva's quiet and dignified manner makes him put so much under the radar for so many . I'm just so glad we got him than any other playmaker in the world.

It's a good point you bring up about Ramires, i would personally put Oscar and Hazard in front of Fabragas and it's a given he'll go with Matic in most games next season so something's got to give?

I think Oscar may give way to be honest, a cracking buy for someone if he does........

Barcelona hit out at Fabregas: He regressed year on year
13 Jun 2014 08:16:00

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2014/06/13/4879355/barcelona-hit-out-at-fabregas-he-regressed-year-on-year?CMPID=TWUK_140613_FabregasBarcastatement" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/tra ... astatement</a>

The Catalans have released an unusual statement on their official website, insisting the Spain midfielder's contribution declined during his three years at Camp Nou

Barcelona have claimed that Cesc Fabregas performed progressively worse during his seasons at the club after he sealed a move to Chelsea.

The 27-year-old midfielder was a graduate of Blaugrana's La Masia youth academy before leaving for Arsenal, only to return in a £30 million deal in August 2011 and join Chelsea in a £28.4m move on Thursday.

"There has been a downward trend in his stats every season at the club," the statement read.

"He slipped right back into the FCB system as if he'd never been away. But despite glowing starts to each campaign, Cesc's contributions to the cause gradually decreased as each season drew to a close."

Fabregas scored 42 goals in 151 games for Barcelona in his three years at club, winning La Liga and a Copa del Rey before this summer's move to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, but had been accused this campaign of fading towards its conclusion.

"From being someone who joined in with the attack, supplying and scoring goals, the magic tended to fade later on in each season," the statement continued.

"He only scored one, six and one goals in the last 24 games of each season.

"For some reason, he was never as good in the second half of a season as in the first.

Whatever the club thought about him or his contributions, that reads like it's been written by a twelve year old. What did they think that would achieve?

Just read it again and having unceremoniously shown him the door they have now followed that up with a statement that says you will basically be no loss because you were shite in the second half of each season anyway. I bet this has caused a bit of a debate over the Corn Flakes and Toast in the Spanish squad. Just surprised they didn't add a bit about the fact he smells....
I found this an interesting addition
only to return in a £30 million deal in August 2011 and join Chelsea in a £28.4m move on Thursday
, another justification to the Barca fans? Or does it sniff of the Neymar transfer? Were Arsenal not promised a cut of anything over the £30million they sold him for?

a lot of hype around Fabregas - if he was a world beater Barca wouldn't be letting him go so easy - I am also a tad surprised, he doesn't strike me as a Moanrinho type player ...

Could be any number of reasons why they have decided to sell him and why they have accepted the alleged fee. I prefer to judge a player's ability by what I see of them on a pitch rather than whether a team are prepared to sell them or not.
