CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2024/25

If he is as good as I've heard then I would be amazed if we didn't try as hard as possible. However, for a variety of reasons he could look to move on. I would say usually this is mainly due to parental influence but in this case his father is a professional rugby league player who would surely know the pros and cons of sporting decisions.
He's about 14 I think but according to the web, Chelsea are offering him a 6 year contract? Surely you can't offer a contract for a kid? I thought it was 17 minimum?

I imagine some will be sold or go out on loan otherwise we will end up with a glut of EDS players. Looking at those who were involved last year you've got Samuel, Simpson Pusey, Alleyne, Naylor, Alpha Ruprecht, Oboavoduo, Jayden Heskey, Okeke, Lawrence, & players coming back from injury such as Muir, Carrington & Dada-Mascoll. I've not included Grey or Mubama as there is already rumours that Grey might go to Sunderland & Mubama is interesting Ipswich. Then you have got the 2nd year scholars from last year who will automatically move up to the EDS such as Henderson-Hall, Noble, Thomas, Parker, Mukasa, McFarlane. Also players who still qualify for another year at U18 level who are already to good to play another year at U18. I am thinking McAidoo, Heskey, Mfuni, Braitheaite. Possibly even Gorman who will be signing scholarship forms for next season. I just realised I've missed out Dunbar- McDonald & the holding midfield player we signed from Arsenal (can't remember his name). These 2 automatically move up to EDS. There maybe others I've forgotten about. How are you going to give game time to all these players.
and addition to that due to so many players I doubt any will be allowed to train or be involved with the first team.

Finley Burns off to Reading on loan for the season.
I don’t really know too much about this kid but have an interest in Reading as spent a lot of time around there when younger.

Thoughts?

The club are in a god awful position but have managed to finally get sold and hopefully they can improve.

This will be three and a half seasons of loans for the lad and he'll come back with just the 12 months on his contract left, does seem an odd one.
He has been decent at league 1 level and is quite experienced at this point. So he should have interest

Not a bad deal for us.

Attacking talent Farid Alfa-Ruprecht is set to return to Germany, according to Fabrizio Romano's latest update.

The Hamburg native, who moved from HSV to Manchester City's youth team three years ago, will join Bayer Leverkusen.

Alfa-Ruprecht will sign a long-term contract, while Die Werkself will pay a transfer fee equivalent to €5.8million.

The Citizens are also said to have secured a very high sell-on clause of 40 percent for future transfers of the 19-year-old

Jayden Lienou has been transferred permanently to Leeds according to City Extra. I find this a strange one. We went to great lengths to poach him from Everton. One assumes that whenever we poach another premier clubs academy products they must possess great potential. He was part of the scholarship intake at the start of last season but I don't think he played a single game at U18 level. I don't even remember him being part of a match day squad. Maybe when he arrived he didn't turn out as good as the scouts originally thought.

Good luck to him. I didn't see anything in him that said that he would make it with us, but I said the same about Morgan Rogers. Mind you, so did everyone who saw him play with our academy!
Saw Rogers play for Boro at Coventry doing my 92 and he was stand out, couldn't see why we were selling him.

Assumed he had an ego like Sancho but don't think it was that. Maybe players in front of him at the time.
