Chairman's Interview

The calm confidence to know a CL Final is a big step for the club, but also feel like he knows that it was a missed opportunity that has whetted the appetite for another investment in AT LEAST TWO QUALITY ADDITIONS.

Spoke of the lack of liquidity (cash) amongst the top clubs in each of the top European leagues, thus the need for deals to be creative. Like others, that sounds like there might need to be done “horse-trading” offsets for key deals. One wonders if that means player exchanges or other, as yet unseen, structures to help make deals work.

As others have said, it sounded a little like Pep is a year to year thing, and that Khaldoon or Pep can pull that trigger whenever they need to. I was surprised how open he was about how down Pep was last year before he re-upped his deal, but that he came away feeling like this was going to be a big year.

I look forward to the next installment, and wonder what other insights he might be able to impart about the club.

Khaldoon was phlegmatic about the CL compared to most of us who were gutted
As usual he speaks well and with authority. Despite what he says I do worry just a little that the core of our 10 year success being having those incredible, incredible players, Vinny, Kun, David, YaYa plus Hart and Zabba for 7 years on the spin is over. We have been privileged.
Therefore, transfer policy is key and to replace Sergio we are going to need to massively break our transfer record and also for Grealish- I'm not sure there were any hints about changing our policy? I might be wrong. Where I'm not wrong I don't think is Khaldoon's assertion that we have always strengthened after winning the league. We didn't do it after either Mancini or Pellegrini's titles although FFP hampered Mancini.
My gut feeling is that Pep will leave once the next 2 years are done and Khaldoon didn't say anything really to dissuade that but he must be thinking about it and not just taking one year at a time as he said.
I'm not knocking him but am trying to read some nuance into what he said

Which striker/s could fill Sergio's boots then? Kane or Haaland are the only two who would do a great job, but still wouldn't come close

A really positive interview and I can't wait for next season to start

Striker and left back incoming then?

i think if we only bring in one striker then we could still have the same problems if injuries happens
left back is a must ? not many are standing out or at big clubs so we may have to bring in i unknown

great interview as always no finger pointing and spot on about the champions league final
what does not kill you makes you stronger ? the hunger in the chairman's eyes does fill me with hope
