I agree, but he's one of our biggest players and frees up a salary to bring in a major signing.Ageuro cannot ever be replaced but always remember we won the title without him by 12 points. With a few quality signings we should be able to do it again.
I thought the reference to creative deals and liquidity referenced the transfer market as a whole. The calm confidence to know a CL Final is a big step for the club, but also feel like he knows that it was a missed opportunity that has whetted the appetite for another investment in AT LEAST TWO QUALITY ADDITIONS.
Spoke of the lack of liquidity (cash) amongst the top clubs in each of the top European leagues, thus the need for deals to be creative. Like others, that sounds like there might need to be done “horse-trading” offsets for key deals. One wonders if that means player exchanges or other, as yet unseen, structures to help make deals work.
As others have said, it sounded a little like Pep is a year to year thing, and that Khaldoon or Pep can pull that trigger whenever they need to. I was surprised how open he was about how down Pep was last year before he re-upped his deal, but that he came away feeling like this was going to be a big year.
I look forward to the next installment, and wonder what other insights he might be able to impart about the club.
No. Two left.Hasn't Pep only got 1 season left on his contract? Ie leaving after this coming season?
The one I thought was being lined up just went to Real Madrid. And just thinking who could possibly fill his shoes gives me a headache
Class act and the reason we are in such a good place.
In saying that, I hope he gave Pep a grilling about Saturday. We missed a wonderful opportunity to win the biggest trophy of them all, the best team won on the day but a team that is simply not at the same level as ourselves. Our defeat was largely self inflicted.
Not so sure about that, Pep has had a wonderful season but it could and maybe should have been even better.I doubt he gave nothing but kind words to Pep. I don’t think Khaldoon is the type of guy to grill someone because of a defeat after all the hard work he’s done this season. In hindsight, Pep does deserve questioning on his line up, but that’s coming from a fan point of view. I think Khaldoon has to much respect for Pep to bollock him over a tactical decision.
Or in this case, three matches in 6 weeks against the same opposition.Khaldoon is very impressive, he is measured, thankfully far more measured than most posters on here who are apoplectic about being beaten by a better side in the CL.
In Cup competitions you lose one off games which he acknowledges and I was delighted he put so much praise into winning the PL, because the PL is the yardstick, the CL is an ornament.
It was heart warming to see his backing for Pep, the greatest manager in our history deserves the full support of the board, owner and other staff and I hope he stays another 10 years at least.
Yep - his face when talking about the future and pep : )he`s an absolute don is our chairman! Very nice to hear him talking about the long term as well? The only thing i slightly disagree with was he said he had learned that you need to strengthen when at the top but we have never actually done that? Hopefully the likes of Kane, Grealish, Rice/Bissouma etc are brought in to keep ourselves ahead of the pack.

Chelsea finished 4th, just. Lost at VIlla when they had to win, lost at home to Arsenal when they had to win, lost an FA Cup Final. Got beat by WBA at home. All important games. They are not the better side. They were better on the day because Pep made a tactical mistake and opted not to correct it mid-game.Khaldoon is very impressive, he is measured, thankfully far more measured than most posters on here who are apoplectic about being beaten by a better side in the CL.

They were better on the day (which was Rascals meaning and the only thing that counts in a one-off match) all over the pitch. FFS, just give it up.Chelsea finished 4th, just.
