Challenge for the title next season

City for the title is a bad bet.

It won't matter who signs, they will need time to gel.

I'd say Champions League qualification is nailed on for next season though, along with the Europa Cup.

your underestimating the team we all ready have if you think they need time to gel?

mancini wont be going out and buying a new 11! we only need 3-4 genuine decent players for this squad to become a title challenging team of that i am sure of.

a theory of mine is that the club can go to any player even without champs league and offer them the chance to be in a side that will be major challengers of the premiership title, europa league, carling cup and fa cup.

when you see what we can offer in terms of a challenge is then up to certain players to want to be part of that for instance torres would he have that same sort of challenge at liverpool with the way things are at the moment?

If the team isn't completely dismantled we have a good chance of challenging.

New teams take time to gel so hopefully there will be four or five top quality replacements. The general consensus is that we should be looking at two new full backs a top central midfielder, a top striker and a centre back.

It will be even more open next season as well with us and Tottenham probably building on this year and Everton aiming for more consistency.

As much as i would love to challenge for the title next year i can't see it happening. If we would have got 4th this year then i would have said it would have been an all out assault on the league. Chances are we might nail 1 massive name and a few gems in the making this summer so top4 and a cup and i'll be over the bluemoon next season

Even Tevez thinks so :)

I'd expect City, Spurs and Arsenal to be the 3 front-runners for the title next season.

Utd, chelsea and Liverpool's era is over. Why? Age and finance

We've played virtually the whole season with 2 fit midfielders, and ended the season with one of the best forwards in the Premiership having to play a midfield role. mancini tried to address this weakness in January, but his move for Mariga was destroyed by immigration red tape. He will strengthen City's midfield in the Summer and we will be a significantly stronger team as a result.

Marvin, I think you are one of the more astute posters on here. However I think you might have got this one wrong.

Chelsea & Utd the teams to beat next season.

We need a new left back/fullback; Right back/fullback; two central midfielders; left winger (if Bellamy leaves); new striker (two if Ade leaves as i cannot see Santa Cruz being part of Mancini's plans). Thats a minimum of 5 first team players although i think 7 is more realistic. That is without even considering squad players when the bulk of the chaff is discarded.
