Ajax knocked out tonight by Rapid Vienna. That's good as far as I'm concerned, as I've been there already but I appreciate enthusiasts of marijuana, brass, and Anne Frank may be slightly disappointed. They are replaced in the provisional groups by Sporting Lisbon. This assumes that the highest coefficient teams progress through the qualifying rounds.

Teams in italics are yet to qualify. I will update this tomorrow if anything changes, and I'd say Celtic and Steaua the most in danger after the first legs though. The draw for the final round of qualifying (when United enter) is on Friday.

I read something yesterday about how they had fallen below us in the coeffiecients but were still guaranteed pot 2. I didn't fully understand it though because it was badly written plus I'm as thick as pig shit.

No. Those rankings will come into effect next season, but will be swayed by performances this season.

The groups I provided above are correct if the highest ranked teams progress through qualifying. Assuming they qualify United and us will both be in Pot 2

The countries coefficients taken from last season also?

I'm not for one second doubting you, but seems odd that UEFA would release the team coefficients that show United in 20th, yet will seed them on out dated figures. They don't half like to confuse things. Why bother releasing coefficients if they're irrelevent till next year...
 
UEFA do what they want basically. I don't know why they release the up to date club info if they're not going to use it.

They have to use the country coefficients because each league needs to know at the beginning of the season how many European spots are up for grabs. We know that there are 4 spots for the champions league in the premier league this year, but if the English teams collectively do as shit as last season Italy could overtake us this season (like Ukraine has Holland), but the change won't come into effect until the season after.
