Dortmund couldn't go into Groups A-D due to the German broadcasters pairing them with Bayern Munich. They then couldn't go into Group F as Leipzig were already there. That only left E, G and H but due to the TV pairings impacting the other remaining pot three teams, our group was the only one left for them.
Sorry but they couldn’t go into FOUR groups cos of German tv? Fucking hell the tv tail is well and truly wagging the dog

"In addition, UEFA pairs together certain clubs from the same nation to ensure they don't play at the same time. As such, when any of the below teams are drawn into groups A-D, their paired team will automatically be assigned to groups E-H:

Real Madrid and Barcelona
Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig
Manchester City and Liverpool
AC Milan and Napoli
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund
Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille
FC Porto and Benfica
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur
Juventus and Inter Milan
Atletico Madrid and Sevilla"

So, they can't go in A-D as Bayern were in group C. Then can't go in F due to Leipzig being German. That's the easy bit.

I assume that the computer then works out that if they go in E or H, the draw will fail at some point as it would cause further clashes either between other teams in the draw, so we're all that's left.
Thanks, well explained, but it’s still fucking daft

Exactly the same with the English teams. Once we we'd been allocated Group G, Liverpool (who we were paired with) could only be in Groups A to D.
