Personally, part of me wants UEFA to dare to ban us and we then take the whole FFP thing to the courts. Would a judge rule that such an anti-competitive set of rules are legal ? FFP was brought in to maintain the status quo so the elite old guard can't be challenged by ambitious others - like us. The other part of me worries about Pep and top players in their prime leaving. The Der Spiegel stories seemed to indicate that they wouldn't challenge the Etihad one but that the Aabar & Etisalat ones were over-valued (in their opinion). But they also claimed that all these were related parties whereas our view was that they weren't. Had they not changed the rules, as I said earlier, then we'd still have failed but the battle would have been to claim mitigation under Annex XI & the battle over who was or wasn't a related party would probably have ended up in court. By changing the rules on the application of Annex XI they avoided that battle.
