Champions League Final 2027 Madrid or Baku?

How far back would you go to find a team east of Munich in the final? The final won't be between Gala and Shakhtar.

Without the USSR influence, Azerbaijan would otherwise be categorised as Asia.

I'd personally quite like to visit at some stage but it's not a practical venue for a major European final.

Financial clout means the two teams in the final will be from Western European nations and there is not sufficient route network to and from Azerbaijan to get 60k people there at the same time. Arsenal v Chelsea barely managed to get 5k supporters each for a European final - it was and is unacceptable.
It’s not even that far away, Europe is only a small place (I don’t even consider it a real continent, just a number of small peninsulas in Asia). 9 hour flight. Newcastle fans have to do multiple 7 hour coach journeys to the South coast a season. Plymouth fans have had to go to the North East on 8 hour coach journeys recently.

Portsmouth were made to go to Newcastle for Monday Night Football on Sky once. Now that was unacceptable. But the CL final is on a weekend, that’s fine. I know lads who went to Sapporo in 2002 to watch England on a short trip.

You can get flights from Manchester to Baku on Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus (with one stop on the way for each airline). It’s supposed to be a fantastic city and I reckon it would be a fantastic trip. City fans would make a great weekend of it.

Despite there being little chance of the teams I mentioned getting to the final (we can blame what the G14 did to European football for that), you can’t just keep having finals in the same Western and Central European countries. All UEFA countries should be considered.

Without not taking any notice of tectonic plates we'd still be Asia too ;)
I think we are in Asia.

The only reason Europe is classed as a different continent is because Europeans are the ones who classified the continents and thought we needed to have our own through self importance. Because geographically it definitely isn’t one.

Who cares about the fans? No one so it will go to the most inconvenient venue for fans.
Yep. If they did, we wouldn't have played Inter in Istanbul. It would have been somewhere like Munich, or Paris, or Madrid. Venues easier to get to. It was a box ticking exercise, UEFA attempting to keep the lesser (in comparison) nations onside.
