Champions League Final | Screening at Mayfield Depot / other city centre venues

No big screen on the Etihad site this time because of a gig by The Weekend (me neither), so wanted to ask where in town are people planning to watch the CL final?
The Weeknd (sic) is currently the biggest artist in the World on Spotify. That Ed Sheeran fella is in a (distant) second place.

It's also Parklife that night, so travel might be messed up in North Manchester.

I think it might have been the table service only phase. But even so, everywhere was packed out to capacity, so you couldn’t fit anymore in anywhere regardless.
It was table only so pubs could only fit about 10-20% of capacity in. It will be mad busy and everywhere will be packed and I’m sure all the big fan park type things will sell out but I’d imagine that there will be plenty of pubs showing it.

Not quite how I remember it but no point arguing.

I said on another thread that Manchester City Centre has a surprising lack of pubs that show football, compared to most big cities.

Time will tell but I honestly think you’ll struggle to watch it in town unless you pre book somewhere.

If that’s true, do you think that’s down to the bitterness of the relationship between the two sets of supporters in the city?

I can see why cities like Leeds and Newcastle might have more footy watching places cos it’s less likely to kick off maybe, but the comparison would be better with Liverpool, Sheffield or Birmingham perhaps.
Without stats we’re just guessing aren’t we, but it would be interesting to see them compared.

I’d say lots of bars in town don’t want the stereotypical clientele that football fans provide. Unfair perhaps but so few places showed the match that it must be a concern.

I watched it in bierkeller and literally everywhere in town was bookings only and there was the old 2 meter social distancing rules which massively reduced the capacity. Bierkeller was no more than half full if that.

Was thinking this year of the Waldorf as that is always a good City pub, but also looking at that 4thefans event as well. Just want somewhere full of blues and half decent beer.
