It's what happens to most away teams on their overnight stay in a foreign city. I remember L'pool years ago going to Milan to defend a lead in a 2nd leg tie and this happening all night long.
Mind, Milan also got to the ref to ensure their win (hookers in his hotel room and other stuff) which is why their officials allegedly told the Scousers after their first leg victory at Anfield "you're still going out, you know."
