Champions League Games 23/24 November

Chelsea are an exceptional team tbh. And they are doing it with 6 academy graduates involved heavily.

Christensen
Loftus-Cheek
Mount
James
Chalobah
Hudson-Odoi

I’m thrilled that Cole Palmer has reached the stage where he’s on the brink of making it 2 for us along with Foden. To do it with 6 shows how good that transfer ban ended up being for them.

If the authorities take another pop at us and get a transfer ban to stick, we’d end up with 5 or 6 academy graduates in the squad too (Foden, Palmer, McAtee, Delap, Lavia, maybe one of Doyle/Mbete). It almost makes me want us banned ;)

It was a huge blessing in disguise. Absolutely.

Add to that Gilmour and Gallagher are clearly close to or are already to fight for their place in the squad then it further adds to the debate
Then you factor in that in the last TW players like Abraham, Gheui, Tomori , Livermento all academy players who bought enough £ in to pay for Lukaku

Still a good result for Benfica. They've got Kiev at home next.

Barca have to go to Bayern, they're already through but I imagine they'd enjoy knocking Barca out.
G14 chums, I’m sure there will be some sort of deal done under the table, perhaps involving first option on a player in exchange for playing the youth team

It obviously helped with them not being allowed to bring in somebody else but the transfer ban didn't have as much of an impact on their emergence as suggested they had an enormous squad with loans all over to fall back on and it's not like they didn't make up for the ban the second it was over.

Christensen was already well established so ignore him, the rest besides Hudson odoi have all had successful loans, that's what really got them all ready to be integrated into the first team properly and the one thing we're missing.

They've had an exceptional academy, the best in the country for well over a decade now, we're right up there with them now but still a few years from seeing results. They're also around 21 before they're getting a sniff with the first team, our best talents are a few years younger. If we could find some good loans for our best talents we could easily have upto half a dozen academy kids in the squad in just a few years time, there's no chance we can get that many in without loans though. As well as Palmer is doing this season it's clear he's lacking the know how to handle himself against men, compare that to Mount, who slotted right in at Chelsea after his time at Derby.
