Champions League Games 6/7 September '22

Not wanting to piss on anybody's chips but two teams recently won the ECL while losing four games along the way.

A competition that delivers the best team in Europe?
City broke two English club CL records in 2020-21.

1. Most wins in the competition, 11
2. Most wins in a row, 7

And we didn’t win it.

It is a competition that can reward mediocrity.

You can be as low as the fourth or even fifth best team in you league and qualify for it.

You can win the Champions League by drawing every game 0-0 (winning the knock out games on penalties).

Let’s use our group as the example:

1. Dortmund P6 W4 D2 L0 F8 A4 Pts14
2. City P6 W0 D6 L0 F0 A0 Pts6
3. Sevilla P6 W0 D4 L2 F4 A6 Pts4
4. Copenhagen P6 W0 D4 L2 F2 A6 Pts4

Ro16
City v Barça 0-0 + 0-0, City win on penalties

1/4 final
City v Chelsea 0-0 + 0-0, City win on penalties

1/2 final
City v Spurs 0-0 + 0-0, City win on penalties

Final
City v Liverpool 0-0, City win on penalties.

Drawing every game in the Prem 0-0 would probably see you relegated.
