Most teams would struggle against Madrid and Ajax.

Their major problem is that their domestic league is so poor, it doesn't come anywhere near preparing them for CL football. Yes; Rangers got to the final of the EL last season, and were fantastic in doing so. But, as good a standard as the EL is, it isn't anywhere near the elite teams in the CL.
