Champions League Grumbles

Can't believe what i'm reading from some of the spoiled tw**ts on here this season. By all means take issue with tactics, selection etc but to be moaning about the world's premier club competition as soon as we qualify for the latter stages. Are we indigenously masochistic?

The only thing i hate is that we get shown up for being quiet bastards by any set of opposing fans. As demonstrated on Weds by the Plzen fans.

Its a bit daft having that theme tune when your not the champions . Its also a bit weird that you can not have an alcoholic drink before an after the match in the ground . I suppose corporate are more important to Platini than the humble fan .

It's the champions league, not the league of champions!

I've spent all my life wanting to see city competing with Europe's best. For most of that time it seemed an impossible dream. I'm not going to whinge too much.

Walking to the car on Wednesday some guy was going 'its a joke of a competition!' to hIs son and I thought 'you small minded prick'.

The champions league is the most prestigious club competition in the world and I want to win it. It might be a bit irritating that you can't have a half time pint but its more than made up for going on a big european away day. I can't fucking wait until the knockouts next year.

I fully agree with this.

There are a few minor housekeeping problems but, relative to the the overall experience of being in the elite competition, they add up to approximately fuck all.

It's an 'elite' competition that's massively balanced in favour of the same teams every year. It's as near to being a fix as FIFA can get.

I'd prefer it to be a good old knockout competition from the start but TV won't let that happen again - Their precious 'top teams' might not get past a 'minnow'.

As for the 'overall experience', I suspect a lot of people's view will change when the ticket prices are announced for the later rounds.

Bollocks to the Champions League.

If I can afford it... I'll see you there!

The Champions League is a properly overrated competition.

The refs are AWFUL! They fall for every single dive. Games are always stop-start-stop-start because of all the fouls they blow for.

Opposition teams want the ball kicked out when a stiff wind picks up so their physio can come on and tend to the soft cûnts. If we don't put it out they wave their arms around and scream like teenage girls as if their player has stood on a landmine.

The away fans and their fucking annoying drums, the no alcohol, the tall advertising boards, the ground full of annoying tourists and away fans in the home end, City moving fans who've already signed up for the Cup Scheme to put corporate visitors in their seats, City giving £15 tickets to businesses when people in the Cup Scheme have paid nearly double that...

The Champions League is my least favourite competition.

1. FA Cup
2. Premier League
3. FL Cup
4. FA Youth Cup
5. EDS League
6. Europa League = Champions League

I'll tolerate it because of how much money it brings into the club but I've not enjoyed one game in the CL yet and we've played 17.

How the fuck can you have the FA Cup over the Premier League ?

You wait until the knockouts. The place will be rocking.

Baffled at the whingers, who were probably complaining when we didn't make it through to the last 16 and before that were complaining that we hadn't qualified. I've loved having European teams come and enliven the place. Would you rather welcome the likes of Poznan or Aris than a bunch of 600 Wigan fans? Hell, Norwich's fans even sat down for the game.

And the football, even if we're losing can be cracking. It was painful to lose to Bayern, but they were so fucking good, it was hard not to be impressed and I was pleased that Bayern players were being clapped off by City fans.

On the beer front, my Red employee just got back from 3 days in Leverkusen and tells me that not only did they have beer on sale in the ground, but that you could take it through to your seat. Obviously we're observing the rule and they're flouting it or the UK restriction is a police imposed restriction. Let's see if we get served in Munich.

Oh and I suspect that this will be our televised fixture. With 3 British teams in our half of the draw and 3 Tuesdays for us, United and Celtic, they chose to broadcast Celtic v Barca (fair enough), then chose us vs Bayern and left United with their other Tuesday game.

Have we been televised on ITV yet?
Seems strange if not!!!

Pretty sure ITV had the Real Madrid away last season and the Villareal away the season before, can remember puss-face Keane down on the pitch before the match start
Meant this season.

I`m "baffled" by this response........ It`s quite obvious that most of the post`s in this thread are not "whingers or complainers" about being in the competition , but just expressing some of the things that bug fans during the games.
And what have Wigan and Norwich fans got to do with anything?. Even if we win the champs league, we will still probably play them again next season in some competition. [ certainly not Champs League ]

Oh and on the beer front, most German teams will serve NON ALCHOLIC beer during Champs League to any mugs who want to pay a small fortune for coloured water. So tell your rag mate the staff at Leverkusen are still laughing at him and his mug mates.
