Champions League Match-Week 3

Watched Sky's highlights of the games and Zlatan's 4 goals was amazing, especially the 3rd.

Putting Messi and Ronaldo in the shade

Speaking of Ronaldo, disgraceful gamesmanship. Conned the officials into sending Chiellini off. Easy to stop this, use video evidence and suspend him. Cheating the game, and the fans

Farcical game at Benfica. Deluge of rain in the 2nd half, and it was like a swimming pool with goal bound shots stopping dead on the grass.

PSG look potential favourites with Bayern

Well done to Gala and Mancini. A good home win. Look like they could knock Juve out

That was dangerous, but with TV schedules on the line they were never gonna call the game off. Money talks

Seen waterlogged pitches before, but nothing like that

If we beat CSKA at home would that put us through as they can only get nine point but our record against them would be better.I think then we could even stand a 2-0 loss against Pilzen .Probably totally wrong

If we beat CSKA Plzen have to beat Bayern or we're through.

we'd move to 9, cska on 3, so with the 6 pt gap cska couldn't beat us on head to head.

If Plzen beat you, they move to 3 and could technically usurp us if they won their last 2 games, including beating us by 3-0 or better, and we lost our last 2.

So therefore you would go through with at least 12 points as you'd have to beat us, and win the group. We would finish on 9, Plzen on 9 but could usurp on either head to head or goal difference, and Moscow would finish with no more than 6, as they'd have to lose to both us and Plzen.

Unless Plzen beat Bayern, and then beat us by more than three, or beat us by three and score at least 4.

yeah, but they have to beat Bayern first for those permutations to become at all relevant.

Plzen will not beat Bayern - they will not even get one point. I have never seen such a bad CL team...

If you beat CSKA at home the table after 4 matches will look like this:

Bayern 12
ManCity 9
CSKA 3
Plzen 0

Bayern will already be qualified - and that match against Plzen at home will be a cakewalk for your team.

Bayern will be motivated for that CSKA match, too. Barcelona hold the record for successive wins in the UEFA Champions League proper with nine, between 18 September 2002 and 18 February 2003. With a win in Plzen Bayern will equal this 9 consecutive wins in the CL (Juve 2x, Barcelona 2x, Dortmund, CSKA, Plzen 2x) and can get the record alone with winning in Moscow. And the group win is still open.
