Champions league Qualifier

I would like to draw Celtic

Impossible until the group stage, we are in the runners up pot not the Champions one, and therefore teams we can draw are from good football countries with high coefficients who have a very good chance of knocking us out.

Maybe this clip off the UEFA website helps.

  • The clubs with the five highest coefficients in each route – this applies to both League and Champions – are seeded and drawn against the other five teams in that route.
  • To determine each tie, one side apiece from the seeded and non-seeded pots will be drawn together and placed in another pot, with the first of the two to then be picked out at home in the first leg.
  • Ties will be played on 16/17 & 23/25 August, the ten winners joining the 22 clubs automatically qualified for the group stage.

Coverage: UEFA.com's DrawCentre will have build-up, live streaming and reaction during the course of the day.

I hope this is right! Amended as I can't find an authoritative table of the current coefficients. The UEFA site has them for the teams in the qualifying round but not for us five entering at that stage. My original source (via Wikipedia) looks authentic but may not be. UEFA only has the "points" on its table: http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html

Next qualifying round (with coefficients)

Young Boys (SUI) 24.755 or Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) 81.976
PAOK (GRE) 37.440 or Ajax (NED) 58.112
Rostov (RUS) 11.716 or Anderlecht (BEL) 54.000
Steaua București (ROU) 36.576 or Sparta Praha (CZE) 40.585
Monaco (FRA) 36.549 or Fenerbahçe (TUR) 40.920

Winners of each tie enter the play-off round with

Porto (POR)
Manchester City (ENG)
Villarreal (ESP)
Borussia Mönchengladbach (GER)
Roma (ITA)

I'll amend this next bit when we get the official co-efficients!

So if the seeds (Shaktar Donetsk, Ajax, Anderlecht, Sparta Praha, and Fenerbache) all win, then Donetsk, Ajax and Anderlecht would be in the top coefficient group with us (i.e. we can't play any of them), and we could play Villareal, Sparta, Fenerbache, Borussia Mönchengladbach or Roma. If any of the non-seeded teams win, we could play any of them.

I though our co efficient was 99.256? As stated throughout the thread... Until now

You're making it complicated, and by the look of things, not right.

City are the top ranked club, then Porto, then Shakhtar if they make it.
Villareal will be seeded.
Anderlecht can only be a seeded side if Shakhtar or Ajax fail to make it.
