None of those teams are possible for us to draw.

They are in the Champions Route of qualifying, we are in the League Route of qualifying, they might as well be 2 separate competitions until the main draw.

I am on a trip to Rome the week of the 1st leg and (unless it is Roma) I am hoping that we are perhaps at home on the 1st leg - tough call but I do not want to miss the away leg.

One seed ball and one non-seed ball are taken and placed in an empty bowl. From those two, the first one drawn is home in the first leg.

There are some very decent teams in the League Route this season... nothing we shouldn't be able to beat but this may not be the walk in the park I was hoping for.

Five of Ajax, PAOK, Sparta Prauge, Steaua, Shakhtar, Young Boys, Rostov, Anderlecht, Fenerbache and Monaco will be in the draw with us. We could also (I think) technically get Borussia Monchengladbach or Roma depending on seeding which could be tricky. Porto and Villareal are the other two teams in the draw but both are definitely seeded like us so we can't draw them.

At least that's how I understand it, could be massively wrong though tbf.

Ha. In fairness I said 'less appealing' - I wasn't ruling out going! The coup looks to have ended quicker than was anticipated and people aren't being shot/beheaded in the street anymore.

I think Rostov is the only one where I'd not go. £500 for flights and because of the short turnaround you'd have to get the rushed visa (even more expensive than the normal one and includes taking a days holiday just to go to the embassy in London). Looks like a bit of a shit hole anyway and seems close to the Ukrainian border where the war is still ongoing.

All the others would be good trips so I'll be cheering on Anderlecht and Monaco in the 3rd round qualifiers.
