Champions League Semi Final Games 2/3/9/10 May

Monaco's finishing has been worse than ours tonight, either off target, scuffed or right at the keeper.

Not indicative to their actual skill though, as I said they do have the easy goal -and can get it from various players. But it becomes more difficult keeping your composure at a CL semi-final when you have conceded first at home -which was not supposed to happen. You get nervous you see -and the ball seems "heavier"...

So can we, its just that we go about defending a little bit differently - by attacking. The future of defending is by attacking and we are re-defining the football world, we defend through attacking, at least that's how pep defines it. Brilliant philosophy if you ask me, you know when you think about it, a triangular wheel would be a lot better than the circular one.

I will defend his vision to death, but mark my words: He will nor reinvent football, nobody can. And his philosophy to be "brilliant", you need 2 prerequisites to be fulfilled:
1. Get the right "tools" (personnel).
2. WORK, I repeat, WORK with your personnel on the training ground. Consistently. That means applying training methodology related to your defensive strategy.

How much possession do you want? 60%? 65%? 70%? 80%? More than 90% perhaps? Well guess what, eventually you are bound to lose the fucking ball. At that moment, you get into defensive mode, either you like or not. Which means you need to be prepaired for that. How do you defend as an organised defence behind your own half, when do you press high up (and when you do, how do you achieve co-ordination between players, lines etc), how do you operate when you're caught on a break (plus what measures do you take so that you don't face such situations often)? How do you defend set-pieces? And so on, and so on, and so on. The team has to be familiar, as a unit as well as individual roles, with all kinds of situations...

Otherwise the philosophy is anything but briliant, and the vision is not a winning vision, it's a losing one. The kind of vision that makes the Mourinhos, the Contes, and the Alegris out there look like supermen. Well guess what: They aren't, they are merely intelligent men who capitalise on your weaknesses...

Bye Bye Monaco

Team will be broken up now and they'll re-surface in another 20 years

Personally, I'd be proud for City to have a defence like that. They are a model of what a defence should be, every man knowing his positioning, knowing where others are, and exactly what he has to do. We've been a million miles from that this season (and for several). They've got some up front who can play a bit too.
Monaco have nothing to be ashamed of. They've had a terrific run, nobody expected them to get that far, and they went out to a markedly better team (actually, I'm forgetting, there's another ninety minutes to play).
I hope that Juventus now go on to win it – it would be a fitting end to the end to the career of one of the five or so best keepers I've seen in my lifetime.

Theres nothing to be ashamed of in a defence that defends properly, its as much an art as attacking.
I just can't stand the score once from a breakaway and then stick 10 men behind the ball, congest midfield and defensive areas and stifle the fuck out of the game by killing it with feining injuries, absurd time wasting, corner flag hold up play and 5 minute substitutions like Italian sides usually try to do.
I hope Real Madrid fucking murder them.

Will be nice if he picks it up, can't see him retiring though with the World Cup next summer.

Well, neither can I, honestly. Why would you retire when you're still as good as that? Who cares what age he is?
Simply put, though, he's already got a World Cup winners medal. In fact, he's got absolutely everything. Except that CL medal…

European Championship, can see him wanting to stick around for 2020, although Donna Summer might have taken his starting place by then.
