Spot on, especially regarding his sell on value which has puzzled me every time anyone posts it without explaining how they came up with this idea.cleavers said:Some strange theories in this thread.
The keeper is a no brainer, had to be included.
Jovetic must be going, why ? He, like everyone else, knows we have restrictions on numbers, and somebody had to miss out, why this affects him next season I have no idea, its not likely to happen next season, and he was included and helped in the group games, making a very important contribution in us getting through. I'm sure that MP has talked to him about his contribution from here on, yes he might well go in the summer, but its not more likely because of this imho.
Jovetic sell on value in the summer is hugely reduced, how ? He's still the same player, and leaving him out makes no difference to his value at all, its not like it makes him unavailable after the summer. He misses 2 games minimum, that he may not have played anyway, he perhaps misses a little bit of exposure, perhaps.
With the limited numbers allowed we were always likely to only include 3 forwards, and there was never a chance that Bony wouldn't be one of them. Jovetic isn't a direct striker, and has competition from other positions.
Kolarov (as oos as he has been recently) gives our midfield another option that none of Sagna, Zab, or Mangala can offer, ie crossing ability, useful if Bony or Dzeko are on the pitch, and we are chasing the game.
I think the right decision has been made, that Jovetic will understand it, even if he doesn't like it, and will now play for his City career when asked to.
That said I think he will go in the summer but it's not linked in any way to the CL squad decision. He just doesn't suit our system.
