Champions League TV money

To be fair to pb we will get a shit load of cash from the cl this season, a number that will dwarf the impact of adding £10 or £20 to the ticket price which makes it even more unpalatable and frustrating! The prioritise of the club are all wrong, we should be aiming for a full and bouncing stadium not squeezing the pips out of the ticket price!

I do get that, but it's not like the club is behaving different than any other club in the CL are they? I paid 50 EPS for a ticket at Norwich. Compare that to a QF-ticket for a CL-game. I think many would prefer to pay more for the CL-game.

My comment to PB on this thread has more to do with the fact that PB likes to make it so obvious he doesn't care about the CL on here. Than why bother reacting on anything that has to do with the CL.

Not really possible to say with a huge degree of accuracy.

Some of the prize money is straightforward as it depends on how far we get and how many wins & draws we had in the group stage. Those incentive payments are fixed meaning that Barcelona and BATE Borisov get exactly the same for a win, a draw or for getting into the last 8 (for which alone we each get €6m).
Presumably that should be 12/34ths, as City would have played the extra 2 games as well. Almost 1/3 of the cash is pretty nice.
Beat me to it!

He asked a question and I gave an answer. Whether I like the CL or not I know how the money side works and that it's hugely important to us.

I'm getting a bit fed up with this personal shit though. I've let it go so far because I know my opinion isn't the majority one and I recognise that people will find it diametrically opposed to theirs. I've no problem with people not agreeing with me but any more personal stuff is out of order.

He didn't ask you personally now did he?
And I have nothing against you in person. I don't even know you so how could I. But you are being pretty naive if you come out with comments like yesterday and don't expect people to get personal with you.

Yes of course it should. I've just done a quick calculation based on the assumption that English TV money is 25% of the total. It was about 19% last season but should have gone up significantly with the BT Sport deal.

The market pool is €482.9m this season so call it €120m for the English teams. We get €18m for finishing second in the PL last season (€60m x 30%) and €19m (based on 10/32 of €60m) if we lose next week.

Add that to the €29.5m we've got in performance money so far and that's €66.5m even if we go no further. That goes up to at least €75m if we go through on Tuesday.

In proper money that's around £53m already and at least £60m if we get to the semi (or a bit less if I've been too optimistic about the TV deal). Add another £10m in ticket revenue and that's £65-70m.

I think that's why I'm a bit cold about the CL to be honest. Not that I don't want us to win every game or competition that we play in but the fact that we've been so shit in the league and we could miss out on that significant amount of money next season. It may sound stupid but at the moment I'd take a top four finish over anything apart from actually winning the CL.

It would be typical City to lose in the CL final and finish 5th.

Also they only had two teams qualify for the group stages, so their market pool was split w ways instead of Spains 4.
Maybe that's where the difference was, yeah.
