Champions League with Pep

A fuck up for their goal. Foden had a great chance and should have scored. We should have had a penalty chasing the game when James hand balled a shot. Mahrez volleyed wide and high in the last minute when he should have scored. We should have won!
I have never watched the game back, not even short highlights. I couldn't have told you anything about the game (still can't picture the moments you specifically mention). I can't even remember their goal! The only memory I have is of KDB going off after the Rudiger assault.

I think I must have tried to erase the game from my mind (and largely succeeded, it seems!). I'd had a fair few in town, but wasn't absolutely leathered.

Totally agree with this. Even the way they were blasting balls at each other in the rondo felt nervy. Don't forget we lost Kev too, and didn't have a striker. We had a miles better team than Chelsea and Gundo had done well in a holding role earlier in the season. I was surprised to see the team but trusted Pep and I think it is far too simplistic to blame that defeat on one decision.
No, Rodri should have played simple as that, Pep fucked it.

I'm like you I will never watch that game again.

We should have won it in 2021…
And also in 2022, 2 goals ahead going into added time in the 2nd leg of the semi final and blew it. We would have beaten Liverpool. Then Istanbul would have been 3 on the trot… imagine what could have been.
Yes, but if we'd have won the first one or second one we might not have been as motivated for the third. Or players might have left having achieved their goal. Things in the past affect the future. It doesn't work backwards. So I'm just happy that the one we did win was part of a treble. Of all the seasons we could have won it it was amazing that it was with Premier League and FA Cup wins too!

Ridiculously hard to win. You could argue that for around 6 years we were the best team in the World yet one mistake and out you go.

The best team doesn’t always win it and there are many teams capable of stopping the best team on any given day.

I’m just glad we won it once and in front of fans rather than in COVID.

Absolute nonsense. Their 1st goal was clear offside. Sterling denied a stonewall penalty for both a blatant foul and handball, and Jesus goal wrongly declared offside. Reverse those 3 and we win the 1st leg and the tie easily
If the officials had done their jobs properly we could have been at least 4-2 at HT in the 2nd leg, with two away goals. Complete shambles.

Yes…
To have done it as part of ‘The Treble’ was magnificent and I’m glad I was there to witness it, despite the shit show surrounding the event

More than happy with one in ten years. It’s better than none in our entire existence.

The super clubs win it often as they put everything into it. The league is rarely enough for them.

We won it in a treble season. 2021 was unfortunate but it’s what it is.

If we don’t win it again for another ten years, or at all for that matter, I wouldn’t be too arsed. The league trumps it for clubs like ours. I am however glad we won it once to add to the collection.

Same as me. Not watched the three cup final defeats back either.

He said at some point getting to semi finals is the required achievement, then it’s so hard that anything can happen, but chances are if you make 4 semis, you get through 2 and win 1 final. He messed up badly vs Chelsea and I think we’ve heard him admit regrets over that. To be honest I’m just glad we have won one, it’s so hard to do and we broke the duck. Well probably do another one in the next 10 years.
