Think I heard them say on Sky that it's never been done, in any division. Not even in the EFL where, as you said, they have theoretically 24 more points available for them.

In the US every sport has a playoff system to determine the champ and no one cares who has the best record other than better playoff seeding. I prefer the English system whether Prem or lower leagues. I also like the German relegation playoffs.

I think a trick is missed. I watch quite a lot of AIL Irish rugby where the team that finishes one out the relegation zone enters the play offs with 2nd,3rd and 4th of the below division , so it would be West Ham this season I'd imagine.
I seem to remember the first season of championship play offs that was the case, but I could well be wrong.
 
I honestly didn't realise the polydactylytes receive an actual trophy for 2nd place...
(surprised Arsenal haven't lobbied for a few backdated top flight ones, themselves!)

 
That/this flat Burnley parade been funny as fuck, players begged for the Chairman to say a few words on the balcony, he came out, waved n fucked straight off back in lol

Players have sung more about Blackburn than themselves.
