Championship thread | 2025/26

They’re what I hate in a championship team, to be honest. Get promoted, sell your best players, get relegated, take the parachute money, get promoted, sell your best players, get relegated, take the parachute money.
Whatever the reason for agreeing parachute payments was, it wasn’t what Norwich do and I hope they don’t come back up anytime soon.
Agreed. They were taking the piss. All they were interested in was the money; long term stability wasn't in their plans. I seem to remember Palace also having a period as a yoyo club as well. Though they're now established as a PL club.

Boro are very close to appointing Hammarby coach Kim Hellberg. He turned down an offer from Swansea.

Should be good for Sverre with scandi connection and the fact that Hellberg’s tactics are attacking and possession based.

Poor Norwich are in a frightful state. The fans have their wish and will now have a new manager, understandably given Manning’s woeful record, but irrespective of who is appointed, they’ll start the 2026-27 season with a new manager for the 6th consecutive season.
Philipe Clement being heavily linked with job. Got a raw deal at Ibrox but still a decent manager.

Duly appointed.
Really top appointment for Norwich. Very surprised he’s taken that job but obviously been convinced by the owners that there is ambition there.

Very likeable guy who was dealt a shitty hand at Ibrox with the goings on behind the scene so hopefully things work out for him

Interesting to hear Chris Suttons views ( never thought I’d be writing that) on the appointment

He had a good team at Genk and should be okay if fans are patient. Sutton tends to be a bit more level-headed when discussing Norwich City; I guess he doesn’t have to be as inflammatory or feel the need to wind people up.

Save for the defeat in the East Anglian derby (3-1) and the loss to Hull City (0-2), Norwich have generally contested most games, losing by the odd goal. However, they have paid the price for squandering chances and then tiring and so being more open late in games. Clement should have enough wherewithal to keep them up, but I agree with Sutton that he’ll have to ruffle feathers. Any team’s players that have allowed themselves to slip cannot complain about a bit of abrasion.

Cov 2-2 now and WBA down to 10 men.
Coventry will win it now, with the advantage of the extra man. Stupid red card (second yellow, to be accurate) for Molumby. Already on a yellow, and he pulls a Coventry player back. In the middle of the pitch. And you wonder where football players get the reputation for being thick.

*edit* sure enough, Coventry take the lead.

Looked dead and buried at 2-0 the goal just before HT then the sending off has turned it right around,to be fair Lampard has them playing decent enough, starting to get a bit of a gap to 2nd and 3rd spot ..
Plus, we are shite, so everyone looks decent when they play us.
