Change of Badge ??

I always like a badge thread to put across my view that the current one is an embarrassing, amateur piece of shite. A five year old could have designed a better one.

You can just see it - a sky blue scribble, and if you're lucky, a vaguely round thing with two eyes and a smile. Maybe a shiny sun in the corner. Might just work.

I love the current one and never liked the old one (It looked naff as all round footy badges do). Not sure about the stars bit on the current one but the rest is top draw and the best in the country by a mile.

The're for nothing......

Story is that when Franny Lee took over the 'old badge' copyright was held by the owner of the souvenier shop. Franny wouldn't pay the price asked and had a new badge designed with the request that it was made to look continental. Hence 3 stars

The other story is that the old badge was too close to the Manchester Council one, which they objected to and they asked us to change it

the latest badge was brought in when bernstien was in charge. I worked for the club at the time

Incorrect. The current badge was first used when we switched our kits to Kappa for the start of the 1997-98 season and went from Sky Blue to Laser Blue. Francis Lee was still chairman. Only later that season did Bernstein become involved in the club.

I like to think the 3 stars represent the divisions we've been in........not that they were, it was for a more continental look as was the Kappa shirt designs.
