Not really as one of the above is likely to be in pot 2.

And Liverpool and United will only be in pot 1 if they win the league.

But it may be an excercise in pot two only containing English and Spanish teams.

I see it being worse than that... how long before qualifying for the competition is not related to league position in your domestic league, but some combination of league position and club coefficient? SO, Leicester win the league, but only have enough CC points to get into the Europa league, where they get the chance to earn more CC points so that if they miraculously win the league again, they might have enough loyalty points to compete in the big competition.
 
'History' points to count towards qualification, with extra points awarded to clubs that have been affected by tragedies or bomb scares?
 
Perhaps Uefa should also change the name of the competition. There won't be many actual champions in the so called Champions League.

This disturbs me....

"A subsidiary company will be created that will play a strategic role in determining the future and the management of club competitions: UEFA Club Competitions SA, where half of the managing directors will be appointed by UEFA and the other half by the ECA."

Who in the EFA will decide to represent them? I bet we won't be one of them.

Why don't the Rags/Dippers/AC/Inter create their own little tournament where they play it exclusively in China and call it the history trophy.
 
This has been done to benefit Italy, it really won't have an affect on us at all. Personally I hope the French and the Portuguese knock the Italians into 5th, that would be great.
 
Good news for the 4 leagues who benefit - kick in the shins for the smaller countries.
UEFA would appear to be walking a fine line between representing the interests of all and preventing the bigger clubs/leagues breaking away. History shows that the latter often occurs so will be interesting if it stops it - perhaps this is the factor behind the set of of the new subsidiary with an altered governance structure.
 
Another boost to the tv audience and a kick in the teeth for match going supporters. I bet there are many who can't even get from work to the ground for 6, let alone go home and get changed.

Six games starting at 8pm

Excellent news for me as I'm three hours ahead in the winter but shite for people trying to get to the ground from work in Manchester traffic.
 
I guarantee they wont ask any English team to play a home game at 6pm. Away games are likely though.

If City kicked off at 6pm it would look awful on TV as it would be empty, as with most English teams imagine. I know EL game slick off early but the CL is UEFA's flagship competition
