Apologies if its been mentioned, but can all our new players be added to the champions league squad or is there a limit on how many changes can be made?
Yes but there's no benefit in doing soCan Rodri also be withdrawn from the squad if we make the next round ?
Squad of 25 named in Sept 2024Only 3 and after the league phase has finished.
Yes but there's no benefit in doing so
Removing Esbrand-Wilson, Walker & Rodri would provide the three allowed vacancies on the free list (17 maximum but only 15 filled.)Only 3 and after the league phase has finished.
Yes but there's no benefit in doing so
Not sure that we need 4!!!Removing Esbrand-Wilson, Walker & Rodri would provide the three allowed vacancies on the free list (currently at the maxiumum 17) who else did you have in mind?

this is an absolutely stupid rule time wise. They changed the format so the first phase doesn't finish in December anymore then probably forgot about this rule so now it clashes with the transfer window. You'll get teams that have made major changes, sold their star players, bought replacements and they can't play. How on earth does that make sense?Squad of 25 named in Sept 2024
No changes allowed until after the First phase had finished up until 6th Feb 2025,
I.e play off stages - Teams 8 to 24 in the league of 36,involved.
Up until the 6th February 2025, 3 players can be added/changed, and then a new squad of 25 must be finalised.
So no changes to the current CL squad allowed for the PSG game!!! :0(

Removing Esbrand-Wilson doesn't change anything as he is Club Trained - so that just leaves 2 spaces in that category that no one else can fill (unless we sign back a CT player)Removing Esbrand-Wilson, Walker & Rodri would provide the three allowed vacancies on the free list (17 maximum but only 15 filled.)

Yes, agree omitting Esbrand-Wilson doesn't help but the key issue is that the three new additions allowed to the Free list may not provide enough spaces for all our new signings to compete in the next stage of the CL. Depends who finally rocks up obviously and while Khusanov, Reis & Marmoush can currently all be accommodated any further acquisitions like Cambiaso and Luiz or some other MF can't also be included. Presumably Marmoush plus a yet to be identified MF would be definites and some cover at RB too.Removing Esbrand-Wilson doesn't change anything as he is Club Trained - so that just leaves 2 spaces in that category that no one else can fill (unless we sign back a CT player)
Removing Walker would free up one place as we have 5 Home Grown players so one of them is currently in one of the Free spaces.
So, with Khusanov now announced and we presume two more to be announced this week - that completes the 17 free places without having to remove Rodri. Of course if Walker doesn't move then that changes matters. Carson might be the obvious one to remove and use Hudson or Brits as cover.
And if we fail to qualify for play-offs it doesn't really matter until next season.
Yes - I wrote that before realising that we were still being strong linked with Cambiaso and Luiz. You have to think if they arrive (and we are still in CL) then they have to be in the squad - and that Marmoush would be the third. Leaving Reis and Khasanov to develop into the squad playing PL and FA cup (hopefully)Yes, agree omitting Esbrand-Wilson doesn't help but the key issue is that the three new additions allowed to the Free list may not provide enough spaces for all our new signings to compete in the next stage of the CL. Ssshhh, Akanji......Been looking at this today, and if we sign anyone else then someone does miss out on the CL squad
For the League phase we had a 22 man squad (Note Bobb, Lewis, O'Reilly, Wright and Alleyne are all on the B List)
None Home Grown (15)
Ortega, Ederson, Dias, Ake*, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Doku, Rodri, KDB, Gundogan, Silva, Savinho, Nunes, Haaland
Home Grown Club Trained (3)
Foden, Mcatee, Wilson Esbrand
Home Grown Association Trained (4)
Carson, Walker, Stones, Grealish
As it stand today with the 3 new signings and the 2 outgoings (Walker & Wilson Esbrand)
None Home Grown (18)
Ortega, Ederson, Dias, Ake*, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Doku, Rodri, KDB, Gundogan, Silva, Savinho, Nunes, Haaland, Khusanov, Reis, Marmoush
Home Grown Club Trained (2)
Foden, Mcatee,
Home Grown Association Trained (3)
Carson, Stones, Grealish
Now, I think we might be able to move Ake into the Home Grown Association Trained list as it states... Association-trained players who were on another club's books in the same association for three entire seasons (i.e. the period between the first and last official match of the relevant national championship) or of 36 months between the ages of 15 and 21. Ake was with Chelsea from being 15 in 2011 and didn't go on loan till 2015 so I'm 99% certain he counts a Home Grown Association Training meaning were back to the maximum of 17 non home grown, plus the 6 in the HG category's, 23 in total
If we sign anyone else then as we can only add 3 players and were at the Non HG limit, then my guess is Reis is the the first to miss out as I think he's less experienced than Khusanov (despite being under 21, neither of these 2 can go on the B list in the same way Savinho cant as they have to have been with us for at least 2 years from them 15th birthday)
I haven't done the Pl squad as this is slightly different rules, more relaxed on the U21 rules from memory
